Thanks Windrider. They're Hella FF50's, 55w H7 bulbs, ABS housings w/ magnesium reflector assemblies, very light for their size! Quality is first-rate and the stone shields (optional) are too. Only problem is I've been waiting on Cyclegadgets to get me my Autoswitch, so I haven't turned them on yet... but I'm assured by the vendor I'll be very happy with their performance. They're a perfect fit on Loraz's bar, no interference and don't block my scoops. Once I get'm hooked up I'll take a neat pic for Lorazepam's website. | ||

Xbimmer: Did you get the Autoswitch yet? Which model did you order? I just ordered the 5P2 to go with the aux lighting that I will be adding next week. I would love to here any install tips that you might have if you have already completed the installation.  | ||

FINALLY got the PIAAs and got them installed. The only thing that went the way it was supposed to was Lorazepam's bracket. Mostly my fault but regardless - after the install was complete all I can say is Holy Sh@t! What a difference. I went to the PIAA site to see about aiming them - at 25 feet, they rec adjustment until the center of the beam is 1.5 inches lower than the center of the mounted lamp. Not a lot of wiggle room considering the subjectivity of the "levelness" of your surface, the difficulty in determining the baseline center of the lamps ( one up, two up, other loading). Anyway - does anyone have any ideas for aiming the beams along the horizontal plane? Like, dead ahead, slightly angled apart, left staight ahead, right a little to the right? I figure bottom line it will all be subjective and depend upon what kind of feedback I get from oncoming cages Just wanted to say thanks again to Lorazepam for his exceptional product. | ||

Maximum, I did get the AS-5P2 but haven't had time to complete the job. I've rethought the wiring though and I'm running a single 12g power wire from the battery to the front module, and gang-grounding everything to the steering head. I'm trying to think ahead enough to include another relay for PolyHeaters eventually. Hopefully I'll get to it this weekend. | ||

I also plan to run a power wire back to the battery. I purchased a relay for my Polly Heaters, but never used it (I tapped into the accessory plug wiring instead), therefore I will probably use the relay for the aux lighting and autoswitch. Let me know how your installation goes, I will be doing it in about a week or two. I am most curious to find out what wire (and where) you tie in the autoswitch. That would save me some time trying to figure out which color wire is connected to the highbeam flash switch.  | ||

I just finished installing a set of PIAA's, an HID kit, Stebel Horn and Powerlet, to go with my existing Polly's, digital gauge and HeatTroller. I'll post some photos this afternoon (going riding now) to give you some ideas. I ended up running 4 pairs of wire out from the battery (2-12ga, 6-14ga), although this was overkill. I just wanted to have everything on a separate fuse. BTW: The High beam wire is the White wire off the 4 wire headlight connector junction. | ||

Bobbuell, You will probably will need a spacer to put behind the bracket to help keep it from stress cracking. You may want to keep an eye on the lower fender, and make sure the lights are not hitting when the forks compress. This can cause problems with the integrity of the bracket as well. I am a firm believer that you can never have too much light on a motorcycle. I added an hid kit to my low beam, and I am amazed at how yellow the high beam looks now. I was running the osram euro spec silverstars. They make the ones from sylvania look yellowish, but the 5000k hid puts them both to shame. I will probably replace the high beam in the near future, and get the car kit. I will let everyone know when I do, as I will sell the second bulb/ballast to someone on here, if anyone would be interested. |
