All,
I plan on a few carbon upgrades to my XB9R after my extended vacation in Iraq. Anyone had a better experience with one company over another? Are American and Buell about the same (as far as product)? I have seen the carbon for sale on eBay but would prefer to buy American Sport, Buell, or Trojan Horse

If you're going to buy carbon, stick with a single supplier or you may end up with pieces that don't quite match. MOST of my parts came from Al at American Sportbike, EXCEPT the rear hugger (which came from Matt at Trojan).

They're all good quality pieces, but you can easily tell the rear hugger is "different" from everything else. For one thing, it's a finer weave.

I bought the hugger from Trojan mostly because no one else sells one for the XB12Ss. You might have more choices with your model.

What Jaime said.

American Sport Bike CF is top quality Twill weave autoclaved prepreg stuff, NOT clear coated. The Buell CF is for the most part identical. Trojan's good stuff is mostly Ilmsberger brand, which uses Plain weave autoclaved Prepreg that is clearcoated. It's top quality stuff as well.

As you drop down from the autoclaved prepreg stuff, quality falls off pretty fast, but it's more variable. It's all hand done, so it can be anywhere from OK to abysmal once it starts being hand layed/wet resin impregnated. And a lot of the cheap stuff is only CF on the outer layer. You definitely get what you pay for in motorsports CF.
