just got my new 07 xb12x, and i love it. but it has already left me stranded. i ran out of fuel after about 150 miles on full tank. the bike is still being broken in which may explain the poor mileage, but what about my fuel light? with no gauge and a very limited ability to see fuel in the frame, i really need my light. dealer said it may work next time. i told him next time he can come push it to the gas station for me. any thoughts? |

I think all XB's have the feature where, upon entering the reserve portion of fuel, the low fuel light comes on and the clock/odometer readout switches to, I think, a F1 indicator that starts counting up tenths of miles from zero into the reserve range. Did the clock/odometer switch to the zero and count-up indication? This is some info the dealer would want to know to help him isolate the problem. |

Never heard of one "not working" before. But it would be easy enough to just flop the display to "trip meter" and watch it, and gas up at about 120 miles. Ahhh! Thats the solution! Set the odo / trip meter to only show trip miles, and reset it every time you top off the gas. But then, you don't know what time it is. No problem! You, naturally, will have to go buy and install a GPS! That way, you know the time. I think the Zumo even has a gas gauge and alert Really. It's the only responsible thing to do. If you have a spouse, we will back you up. (then, once you have the GPS installed, take the bike to the dealer and tell them to please fix the damn light under warranty. It's no doubt something minor.) |

the warning light never came on nor did the display for the odo switch to fuel mode. i am off tomorrow for another 300 or so mile trip. i will be watching the situation closely and intend to give the dealer the chance to look at it. although i have read nothing but bad things about them on here so far. maybe i will get lucky and find the good one. |

Mine is good (Dayton Ohio) as are many others. The sponsors are universally very good as well. You don't hear a lot about "good" dealers here for a few reasons... first, it's not nearly as "noteworthy" to have a decent experience. Nobody rushes home and rants about an average and good dealer transaction. Secondly, if the dealer is not a board sponsor, it gets awkward posting glowing reviews. There are bad ones, but (in my experience) the Buell dealer network is a little better then the imports dealer networks. Not to say both don't have serious opportunities for improvement mind you... |

You're fuel light and odometer should kick on ~160 miles. Reserve should last ~20 to ~30 miles. Whoever you spoke with is a dumb ass so you need to talk to his boss. I'd take it back and tell them you need their help to test and resolve. Service manager may be interested if the service advisor isn't. DAve |

Bump! My 2010 Lightning Long just did this to me. I wasn't watching the trip meter, and I ran out of gas without the light ever coming on or the odometer/clock ever flipping to the reserve meter. I'll let y'all know how it plays out. |

The thermistor on my fuel pump assembly had failed - hence, no low-fuel detection. Solution was to swap for a new assembly. Anybody in the market for a MY2010 fuel pump assembly that still pumps fuel just fine? |
