Who all will be doing track days this year? Which track? Which organizer? (Fasttrax, Sport Bike Track Time, Other?) What's your track dates?? Does anybody want to organize a group of Buellers for a day at the track?? I did Mid-Ohio the day after Vintage Motorcycle Days last year. Fantastic first time on the track for me. Hoping to get a few track days in this year, preferably with some other Buellers. Chime in guys / gals!

Does Mid Ohio have any "skills oriented" rather then "racing oriented" classes, and any that don't require one piece leathers?

Novice class is all about learning what the bike can do and honing your control of it. Throttle control, braking, cornering, etc. Novice is also divided up into at least three skill level groups. You are never expected to ride above your own limitations. You'll even get some personal training from the instructors if the classes aren't too huge. It's easy to get around 200 miles during a track day. You can rent leathers at the track and two piece leathers are fine if they zip at the waist completely. Check out Mid-Ohio's School for all the info. I'm hoping to do a track day at Mid-Ohio as well as Nelson's Ledges.

Thanks! Thats the kind of information I was looking for.

Ive not worn full 1 piece leathers before, and they look fairly distracting. How long does it take after putting on a set of rental leathers before you can think about anything besides the fact that you are wearing rental leathers?

Whats the typical cost of a track day and leathers? And do I have to safety wire the bike or do any other mods?

Reep, This link will take you to your answers for Mid-Ohio. http://www.midohio.com/school.aspx
Believe it or not I've not worn full leathers either. I signed up to rent some last year, they screwed up, didn't have them for me, but they gave me a textile suit. I swear it must have been a snow mobile suit!! I looked like a doofus but didn't think twice about it cuz of having so much fun. Worse part about it was that they take your pictures all around the track, you can purchase later on line. I didn't buy any of mine cuz I looked so stoopid! But man, it was fun! I believe I paid $75 to rent the leathers, can't remember. Another $200 for the track day. No safety wiring needed. Check out the Track web sites for complete info.
So do you wanna go??

Probably! I think I can wedge that in the budget if I start saving pennies.

Looks like I could also get in with the gear I have if I added a 50% around zipper... which I think both my jacket and pants included.

It's a shame they don't have any of the "advanced cornering" classes available, that looks like exactly what I was looking for.

If you call in to the school director I am confident they will make a spot for you. They can always fit one more in. I was able to work three of us into the day that was dedicated to Ohio Ducati Dealers. It was so cool! Last year was their 1st year having their own school though. This year they may already be packed full. I better try to get my days booked!!?? Which is why I posted this thread in the first place. I'd sure like to get a group of Buell owners together for a day on the track. So if anybody else is listenin, chime in with your suggested dates or dates you already have track days scheduled. Let's try to get a group, ok guys?!

Reep and dent fixer-think we could get a btrax going? It seems as if there is enough folks just on the board that would do it and if we could scare up some more folks outside the board, I can think of a few just where I work, that would be alotta fun! I'd love to do some track days but I don't think my budget right now will allow it...

I signed up for the Fastrax class at Nelson Ledges on June 18th. I heard it was a real good class to take.

http://www.nelsonledges.com/

I would love to be on the track with some other Buell riders.

I checked the link, and it seemed a bit vague. Any better info on what its about?

The Mid Ohio "Advanced Cornering" class looked really attractive for me, but I don't see any scheduled.

I was told by some MSF instructors that it was a great class to take so thats the one I signed up for. I met with some of the guys that put the class on at the IMS in Cleveland and it just sounds like a good learning experience.

The more Buells the better!

So it's definitely class oriented, and not just a "go fast on a track" opportunity? That sounds pretty good (though it would be a loooonnng drive).

It is definitely class oriented from what I understand, also it is the first of two classes you need to take to get your racing license. I'm not looking forward to the drive but I am taking the day off and heading up on Sunday.

June 18, Monday: Advanced Street Riders School

That looks like exactly what I am looking for...

Just a note: If we all can't get in to the June 18th date, they do offer opportunities for groups. Check the bottom of that page you linked:

"We also offer special school days for Motorcycle Clubs. Please call 330-412-9111 for details."

We are the Bad Weather Bikers "club" right? It might be easier for us to schedule for a later date so all of us can arrange our schedules. Just a thought. I'm still gonna try for the 6/18 date. But would anyone of you want to call that number and get the info? I would do it but I can't use the phone like you guys can. I'm totally deaf. Yeah I know, that sucks, can't even listen to the sweet sound of my XB screaming to reach the rev limiter. I make up for it though, taking it to it's limits every chance I get. Fun!!

from the looks of it, its a bring your own, at 150 bux. for beginners you only need a good leather jacket, helmet, gloves, and over ankle(work boots) for intermediate and advanced its full race gear. bikes have the same type of thing-advanced will have to make a few more provisions(depending on bike of course) while the beginnners just have to tape some stuff off.
from what I gathered buell will be there allowing a rider dressed properly to run around the track(maybe) but definitely have regular demo types. 150 bucks for a track day with little to no prep, with the possibility of riding new buells around the course-I'm in. now if I can just get my bike done...: )

looks like Mid-ohio just filled in that spot they lost due to the excuse of weather. While we may not bring in near the money, I'm betting I'll have more fun playing than watching...

reep-looks like I'll finally get to meet you and hopefully some others, as I signed up for the same. I know it is a still a whole season away, but I'm already getting geeked about it! Mid-O is cool just to watch races, so it'll be damn fun to scoot around the track at a decent clip...

I just talked to one of the guys at Farrows and they are a little upset that they had no idea about the upcoming track day at Mid Ohio. They want to play too, so I'm sure they will be involved some how.
