It seem the archive has swallowed my original thread. Basically I was not thrilled with the stock buell key shape. It just didn't hang right on my key chain. Well many people posted ideas on what to replace it with. Today I finally made it over to my local locksmith. After much trial and error we found a replacement. It needed to be shaved ever so slightly (a little thick) The key blank is as follows: Manufacture: ilco model: x80, VL6 (either works) Now my key is small and square. Hope this helps someone else out. |

VL6 key is a Volvo 240/740 Valet key. The VL8/VL10 Master key is thinner. Same cut! Jeff |

I don't mean this to make fun at all, but wow, I wish I had enough time to worry about how my keys hang on my key chain. Besides, you hang your Buell key with other keys?? So the rest of your keys bounce around and scratch up the area around the ignition as you ride? |

Snowhownd, you are looking at it wrong. I have to carry a lot of keys, and my buell key sits by itself on a detachable key ring. So I detach it when I am on the bike. The factory key with its key ring hole on one side cause all the keys to bunch up, this has always annoyed me. Now with the new square key, everything hangs just right. |

It's is definitely very important for things to hang just right. I'm glad you've found a solution to your ..hanging.. problem I will confess that I sometimes wish the key was smaller. I've never considered a key to be in the bigger is better category |

I thought it was natural to hang a little more to one side |
