I have an "07 XB12S orange in color I bought around 12-22-06. It has 1900 miles on it. Has had 1st oil and primary fluid change. Bike has been laid down on both sides now, with very little damage. Both were low speed crashes, under 20 MPH. I had a very bad motorcycle wreck years ago and am paranoid from that experience. I realize now that I cannot ride like I used to and it would prolly be a good idea for me to give it up. The bike was laid down on its left side about three weeks ago when I hit a patch of accumulated sand in an intersection. The bike received very little damage and was good as new in a couple of days. However, Saturday afternoon a car stopped short in front of me, and I hit the front brakes hard to stop. Of course the bike skidded and went down on the right side. I broke my right leg again, which has had 12 surgeries in the past 7 years from the other motorcycle wreck. I cannot afford to be out of work and this is what the broken leg has done to me. The right side has a scratched and dented header tube, and a broken footpeg, all of which can be replaced. There are some minor scratches on the apex of the frame on both sides, but nothing that someone couldn't live with. I think the frame pucs from the 900 cityx models would even cover those. I hate to get rid of my bike but I think God is trying to tell me something. Maybe its time to give it up. I paid $10,500 US dollars for it, and it is financed with payments of $242 a month. I have made two payments so I would guess I owe about $10,000. Could anyone tell me what they would be willing to pay for a bike like this or if someone would possibly take over the payments? It is in very good condition other than the things I listed above and an absolute blast to ride. Thanks for the help. |

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate mishaps. It's one thing to damage the bike - it's an entirely different matter to hurt one's self and be out of work. Unfortunately, I'd say it's probably not worth 10k, especially with damage. Checkout eBay to get an idea of pricing. Good luck to you |

Sad to hear your news. OK, you didn't hear this from me. Park it behind someones BIG truck, and let nature do it's course. It's only 2 months old, Insurance is a wonderful element, it will be replaced by a brand new bike, then sell that AS NEW. |

Ouch, sorry to hear that man. Im afraid that there is some more bad news tho. Buells already have a pretty bad resale value, Im tryn to sell an 06 with 2000 miles in perfect condition, never been down with an aftermarket pipe and it looks like ill be lucky to get 8000 for it. So if you are trying to sell one with some damage you are going to have to take quite a hit to the old wallet. If you get more than seven out of it the way it is ill be really surprised. Good luck man, hope im wrong and everything works out for ya. |

Philosophically speaking here If you got that bad MOJO going on with 2 wheels, and good for you for recognizing that...consider the $ loss you will soon or eventually take as a VERY small price to pay for an important life lesson. Your two mishaps could have had a much worse ending than a broken leg. Hang back- make your payments for a couple of months and figure out how to get out of the bike to minimize your loss. Contrary to another post (if it sorta wasn't a joke)- I would not advise Insurance Fraud, potentially making a bad situation much worse. I crashed a ZX9R that was 3 months old, dinged the frame and as such it was a total loss- I was only insured for minimum liability, so the Insurance company was not involved. I ended up selling it at a motorcycle auction (through a major bike dealership) for about half of what I paid 3 months earlier. That sucked. But it was what it was. If your bike is not considered "totaled" like another poster said- you will take a $3000 or so hit. Good Luck Man.

do you not have insurance to fix it? if you are making payments you have full coverage don't you? |

also your payoff is probably more like 10,250 or so...most of your first few payments are mostly interest and very little principal...that is why it is good to pay a few dollars more than the payment each month to knock down the payoff quicker. |

Trade it in and be upside down on a loan. Make it a trike or get a side car for it. Take the Motorcycle Safety Course again and try taking it slow and easy. Learning to anticipate what others will do is a constant learning process. The more you do it be better you become. |

J S Machine, That is some rotten luck. Sorry to hear about it. Like everyone else has said, if you sell it now, you will take a huge hit on it. |

The payoff prolly is about $10,500. I know about the interest, I just didn't point it out. It does have full coverage, but there's a kicker. My deductable is $1000. I had to have it that way to get the premiums down. If there was one thing that almost made me walk out the door at the dealership, it was the insurance on that sucker. Mine is $1400.00 a year. I am 22 years old. And the bad thing is that I would like to drop the insurance on it for a couple of months but I can't because its financed. I guess it will prolly be best just to hang on to it for a bit. Maybe one day I can brace my leg up real good and ride some more. I really hate to get rid of it. Thanks for the help |

I guess you could do what my buddy did when he left his Gixxer running when he ran into a Southie (Boston) store for cigarettes. He came out and it was gone. Never to be seen from again. Of course that is illegal. And you'd have a tough time explaining to the insurance company why you left it running... |

"I can brace my leg up real good and ride some more" GOOD LUCK DOOD BTW- this forum has had its share of gruesome graphic portrayals of errors in judgement and riding ability. Do us all a favor and don't check back in after crash # 3 - God willing later on, man |

Never never leave a bike running. If after you park the bike the keys should fall out of your pocket just a few feet away .. well.. accidents happen Seriously, I think your best bet is to hold on to it & continue making the payments until the payoff and the amount you can sell it for are in the same ballpark. And maybe during that time try to save up the deductible and as soon as you're ready to sell, get that puppy fixed. |

22 years old and ride like ya used to? You have a long life a head of you my friend, I never remember saying that at that age. How hard did you lay it down?? If you didn't have frame pucks then you may have totaled it already.....depends on the insurance company. Might be worth looking into. |

Good Luck! I have been trying to sell my 2007 12SCG for 7500.00 dollars since November. My bike only has 1000 miles and never been wrecked. |

it does not have frame pucs and the frame is scratched lightly on both sides now. not enough to cause a leak though (gas tank). why would this total it? |

Have you had any training? Maybe take the MSF and get a beater bike to really learn on... if you really enjoy riding it might be worth it to try again, I didn't start riding until I was 28, I'm 31 now and haven't been down once, and I ride ALOT. |

Sorry about your luck! I don't want to kick you while your down but trying to unload a new wrecked bike will be nearly impossible, and you will lose much more money then your deductible. Your best bet is to save up for the deductible and have it fixed to look new again. If you only have a minor frame scrape and no denting it can be sanded and painted without much work. On the other hand if you have any denting you need to have it looked at. If you don't feel comfortable riding, which by your luck or skill level seems to be the case, I would definitely sell the bike. If you decide to keep it and ride then as others have suggested take the MSF course. It will help even the most experienced rider. But before doing that make sure you have plenty of quality gear. Too many people buy bikes without figuring the cost of operation which should inherently include safety gear. Without it even the most basic low speed crash can change your life or end it. Ok i'm off my soap box...good luck with what ever you decide. -Black |

Because the frame is the fuel tank a lot of insurance companys will total it because of it. |
