it was bound to happen. but he is right. there is NO WAY they can catch you on the dragon. except for the whole fact that there is really no way off of it. all it takes is a radio and another car at the ends. |

No_rice is correct. I have seen the cops hide up on a hill where they can't be seen. All they have is a radio. Their partners are parked at the store, and at the dam. Either direction you go, you're gonna get at least a ticket. I'm not here to piss on anyone's parade, I just want y'all to enjoy yourself, and beware. One thing you do not want is a ticket for Drag Racing on the Dragon. Tennessee is notorious for this. |

Yeah and the ugliest part is the tow trucks running out of the gap with impounded bikes from unlicensed riders. |

Well that ends it all.Might as well call off MB-IV.Can't 'yall get it cordoned off just for our special event? Either that or they'll need a bus to get us ALL to jail. Or can we pay the fine/w a judge on the spot? I'm kidding about all of this of course,we'll be sane....won't we? |

Yeah and the ugliest part is the tow trucks running out of the gap with impounded bikes from unlicensed riders. Unlicensed riders deserve to have their bikes impounded. Unlicensed riders are one reason the insurance rate is so high. I could go on but it seems as useless as unlicensed riders. |

Did you notice on the first one how the guy was not riding a smooth line? How his bank/camera angle was changing up and down as he went through curves? It looked like he was fixating on the curves and changing and adjusting his line while in a curve. He was sort of an accident looking for a place to happen from the git go. Jack |

I am not worried at all... I ride the dragon like old ladies drive!!!! Well not really, but I do tend to take it easy on the dragon simply because there is NO room for error without f'ing your bike up or getting injured |

Sounds like a new game to play. I think you should do 30 mph the whole time you are on the Dragon. No more. No less. Don't touch the brakes. Put it in 2nd and stay there. If you can do 30 mph on some of those turns you are one hell of a rider. |

Personally, I don't get in to a timed run. It seems like that is where the problems lie. If you cruise the corners as you like then there is little reason to fly on the straights. Anybody can go fast on the straights anywhere, so why do it on the gap? It's not worth the risk in my book. |

Just so yall know, MBIV is NOT ON THE DRAGON. Well there is a trip to the dragon but the main event is in Georgia. |

I guess I will be staying in Georgia for MBIV and the rest of the time which is fine by me. I still prefer 60 over the dragon anyway. Georgia has some awesome roads and everyone coming down for MBIV will learn that real quick. |

What would have been nice would be to hear that they will be cracking down on yellow line crossers. "Get caught crossing the centerline, and you go to jail." IMHO that is more dangerous than doing 50, although 50 on the dragon is pretty darn fast. |

50 on the dragon is pretty darn fast. And New12r was still leaving me behind! I agree with the center line comment. I'm in it for the curves. I stay in my lane. A good rule of thumb would be, if you can't stay in your lane, you're moving too fast. Y'all just come on down to MB-IV, and let me introduce you to the Wolf. |

I have ran the wolf on a 200cc dirtbike and had more fun than going up Blood mountain at 90mph. |

The dragon trip is the Fri of MBIV, one of many rides that no doubt will take place that weekend. Hwy 60 will be the most likely the starting route to the Dragon. |

From what I can tell some of the locals get pretty irate around the TWO when bike events are going on. Last year I saw one guy hosing down a very tight corner in front of his house and it appeared to me he had all he could take of loud bikes tearing by, me included on a not so loud bike. Lately, I've been riding a lot with this chick I've been teaching to ride and damn if I'm not having a total ball riding at mostly legal speeds. I'm hoping that an upcoming race and some track days will fill my need for speed and save my ass and license. I think the public and the law has had enough. Here's a link to the race I mentioned: www.sandblastrally.com |

Mike - I know we went Tennessee's Post speed limit the last time we rode the Dragon together. What is the speed limit now 70 or 75mph? We have the same problem on this side of the state. We have one road that all the bikes love to ride and the locals hate it. I usually ride from one end to the other within 10mph of the speed limit and check for debris on the road and cops. On the way back is when I have fun and for the most part I have been lucky. Remember one thing though, its March not June and its Friday not Saturday. I have been to the Dragon on a Monday and Friday and have not come across a cop yet. On Saturday and Sunday though you better slow it down. |

I read somewhere that someone oiled one of the corners last fall. Yep every weekend all summer all hours would get pretty old. I don't care if you love motorcycles or not. Even if you only have of the riders being a problem 5% problem....if you have 1,000 riders a day that is 50 jackasses. In the summer I am going to bet it is more like 5 or 6,000. So 300 idiots on bikes and in sports cars????? It would get real tiring. I love to hear about the good old days. Gee who screwed them up? |

About the cops on the dragon... They are looking for poor driving. If you go past them fast, but in your lane and obviously very in control of your vehicle, they are not going to care. If you're crossing the lines in and out of corners, fishtailing, or just freaking flying, they'll call down to the end. I went last year in my car during one of the higher patrol weekends. There was a cop on the bridge in the center, and one on each end. I didn't slow down one bit. Tires screaming around ever corner, but 100% in control and not sliding around. They didn't care. I don't think this year will be any different. Don't be stupid, and they shouldn't care. There was a cop sitting at the dam end of it almost the whole time, but he was just there to slow people up going in and coming out. I watched an Acura/Honda NSX come around that last corner and into the straight at easily over 70. The braking performance was amazing as soon as he saw that cop. I spun and looked at the cop, and he was reading a newspaper. The guy pulled into the gravel parking lot at just stopped. I walked up to him, he was just staring straight forward and asked if the cop was coming over. I told he was reading a newspaper... and the guy started laughing hystairically. Good times. |
