I've never kept a bike long enough to have to replace the grips. I have a new Uly and I am going to install the Dual-Star heated grips. I assume that I'll have to remove the stock grips with some "encouragement" and replace them with new. Are all street bike grips the same? Any recommendations? Thanks, Andrejs |

Have you bought the Dual star grips yet? This post might be extremely helpful. NUTS http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/226090.html |

I just installed some Oxford Heaterz grips. They have a temp controller and seem to work well. I did an installation procedure with pictures on Buelletinboard. Here's the address: http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showthread.ph p?t=2021 Hope this helps. tootal |

I replaced mine with BMW ribbed grips, I tried to salvage the originals but no use. The throttle side almost peeled right off, the left was glued solidly to the metal. Ended up cutting them both away, lost patience after awhile. |

Thanks for the replies. I'm not worried about which heaters to get as much as "are all grips for street bikes the same?". I know there are closed end and open end grips. Other than that I'm guessing they are all the same size. Am I wrong? |

Heated grips...the best $50 and 2 hours I ever spent. I installed the Dual Star heater elements, and located the 3-way rocker switch on the left side of the fairing. Save yourself time and frustration by cutting the existing grips off with a razor blade. For ten bucks you can install something a little more ergonomic than the stock grips. I bought some replacement grips from a local indy dealer for $9.99 (ProGrip maybe?) The grips are shaped like the Buell Traxion(sp?) grips, but they were cheaper, sitting right there on a shelf, and already had the ends opened up for the bar-ends. Like the directions say, using compressed air is the key for easy grip installation. I had a tough time trying to figure out how my air hose/nozzle was going to make the installation easier, until I watched them puff up like a puffer fish and scoot inboard with each pulse of air. Heck, I'd help somebody else do the install just to watch that again ...childish amusement goes a long way with me. Heated grips rock. |
