Hey guys, I'm tossing around the vague idea of swapping the tail of my Ss for a Uly tail section, just for something different and better cargo options. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the the Uly tail attaches? From the pics, it looks like the seat extension bolts in where the Ss footpegs go. Are there any underseat differences that would make a swap difficult, like maybe a different electronics tray? Thanks for any info! ~SM |

i have been considering this for some time, trojan did the opposite on theirs. i think the biggest problems will be the passenger footpegs and supposedly some wheel clearance issues at or near full travel. it makes me think it would be a better case on the TT. now that i have ridden an 07 Uly, i wouldn't go to the trouble myself, it is very comfortable for my 33" inseam. |

Here's a pic of what it would look like, if it would work.

yeah, i've always thought it would look great like that, or with the firebolt front fairing with a bit higher shield! the ultimate sport tourer! XB12SSXRTT |

Swardsman, you're missing the best part of that picture, the saddlebags. |

I thought about doing this also. My wife loves riding with me but it puts the smash on the boys. I sit way forward so she's not hanging off the back. I bet you need just the seat and the tail light bracket for this mod. What could the total price for parts be? |

I wanted to lower a Uly by putting Ss suspension on it, and I was told not to do this because the rear wheel will hit the underside of the Uly seat section when the shock is fully compressed. I imagine that putting a Uly seat on a Lightning Long will have the same effect. However, if you do change the seat, let us know the results. |

Well, from what I've gathered over on the Xboard, the bottoming-out problem is related to the plastic undertray on the Uly seat... it's "deeper" than the Ss tray, so you lose some clearance. The rails are the same though. I'm looking into adapting the Uly taillight/pad assembly directly to the Ss rails and undertray, but I'm not sure what's involved without just diving in and buying parts. It would REALLY help if I could get my hands on the exploded view of the Uly seat from the Uly parts manual. Anyone have that, and be willing to scan it for me? Thanks! ~SM |
