i forgot to post a pic from my lowside a couple of months ago...to prove to everyone that yes indeed the saito frame sliders cause more damage than good... 60 m/h low side the sliders bolts bent, slider broke of and dented the frame.. good news is insurance payed for new frame, and bike will hopefully be done saturday and will have converted to all black body work and all the carbon fiber buell sells...i also just orderd a full set of sliders from dark horse...wont make the mistake of a naked swing arm again. ill post picks when i get her back http://www.customtacos.com/gallery2/showphoto.php? photo=13358&cat=500 |

Most bikes won't fair well at 60. Your best bet is a powers cage, but it is to big for the street. And probably mess your frame up with a hard crash |

60MPH!!!!! DUH... Come on dude, you low sided at 60!!!!! What were you expecting??? Sliders aren't AIR BAGS. They won't completely protect your bike. Take an MSF course. M (Message edited by nutsnbolt on January 24, 2007) |

I hear Rhino Linings makes a new spray on coating that, when dry, has the same texture as nerf. It even comes in yellow. "Short Bus" Yellow. |

I've said it before...I am both a Sato and LSL dealer, but I will NOT sell their frame sliders. Frame sliders are supposed to sacrifice themselves and cause LESS damage then they cost. Neither design fulfills that design criteria from my experience. Stick with the Buell Frame pucks. I've seen several occurrences where they were tested and have always performed well. Al |

I was hit by an angry driver once that didn't want me going around him, I was going 50, and the pucks did their job in saving my frame, and the swing arm sliders did their job as well. |

What?? I hope that guy is in jail or at least living in fear for his life. When I come to MB4 we can go hunting if you want and he is still in the area... |

Al is right. I do not think the "sliders" will work either and have never sold them even though I sell the other products from LSL |

Y'all that was a two summers ago, coming home from bike night at the Vortex. Texas tags, never saw him again. The damage was: Puck on left side was ground down to nothing, and it put a hole in my carbon fiber frame slider. Black_sunshine repaired my carbon. Ground down about a half an inch off the swingarm slider, since replaced with Darkhorse Moto sliders. Bent the handle bars, replaced with Crossroads "clip-ons". Messed up my new Buell boots, damn near rubbed through the seat in my Joe Rocket Speed Master pants, and scuffed up pretty bad my Tecnik Lightning jacket. Scrubbed a hole in my Buell helmet. Not one scuff on my gloves. I wasn't even sore the next day, I was shook up. Scared the shit out of Shred, he was right behind me, said all he could think of was how much he did not want to give Mrs.G "that call." Rode it home too. |

What the hell happened? Did the guy just run you into the ditch or what? Texas sounds like a good road trip to me! |

Talking with the Buell demo fleet guy, Jerry, he told me he had a bike slide over 120 feet on the Buell frame pucks. No frame damage whatsoever. The bike was salvageable. Those frame pucks are molded at one of my customer's facilities. |

I low sided at the track @ 50mph with Buell frame pucks and $10 axle sliders I made from skateboard wheels. Damage = Broken brake lever, bent bars (12s), broken foot peg, and a small scuff on the header pipe, and of course the frame puck is toast. If that had been on a faired street bike it would have been big $$. |

Well...as we were leaving Bike Night there was a slow car in front of us and light traffic in front of us. As we got closer the idiot slammed on his brakes, so we backed off a little. He slowed down so we'd catch up I guess, as we got closer he did it again. I figured what I would do was get with the traffic in the other lane and shot past him when the time was right and go about my way home with him behind us. As I was passing him he swerved over and side swiped me, causing the bike to high side me. I was scary, but I had on all my gear and my bike was prepped for a slide, so after I stopped s l i d i n g I stood up and ran to my bike, picked it up and rode up to where the guy stopped. He was cussing me out telling me "Why did you hit me" along with a bunch of cuss words. It wasn't pretty, I was about as mad as a wet hornet, and was about to take things in my own hands when Shred came top the rescue and calm me down, Shred pulled out his cell phone and the guy took off. I didn't know what shape the bike was in, or myself for that matter, so I took my helmet off, and had a smoke while I check myself over and then the bike. We got part of his license plate, but it wasn't enough to get anything done. I just marked it up to experience to not be anywhere close to someone acting the fool, if it takes pulling over and letting them drive on their way, to running in the other direction, so be it. Bikes don't win against even the smallest cars. |

Wow. That is a crazy story Glitch. It really sucks that nobody thought to get the plate or follow the guy. It is easy to say that someone would think to do that kind of stuff in theory, but everything changes in that type of situation. I've had people try to chase me and run me off the road on bikes, but I was always able to get away. One time a guy in an F150 in Aurora IL came after a couple of my buddies and I. My Buell was in pieces so I was on my friends' 600RR that was 10 up in the back and 1 down in the front. Top speed on that bike was 115-120, but it had crazy amounts of power from the low gearing. The other guys were on similar bikes too. The only problem was that we couldn't go faster than the F150. At one point he had me pinned next to a curb and almost pushed me right in to it. I grabbed a fist full of throttle and tried to keep the front end of the bike down while I passed the guy. Three of the four guys stopped on the side of the road and one of my friends continued on to the highway. The guy followed my friend splitting lanes behind him trying to run him off the road until he finally took an exit. We didn't get the plates because we were to busy trying to save our own asses. Man, even just talking about that experience get my heart beating like crazy! |

Watch out. 1 out of 5 person has mental problem. They are crazy and do not follow logic. When not on my 2 wheels I drive a slow pickup and people harass me for not driving over the speed limit. Most of these people are moms or grandmoms. Behind the wheel people take on a different identitiy similiar to a mob mentality. They will play games with your life because they can. Amazingly this all stopped when I put a gun sticker on my window. I'd love to put a gun rack on my buell to see if it has the same effect. |

Watch out. 1 out of 5 persons has mental problem. They are crazy and do not follow logic That number might actually be closer to 3 to be honest. Now...look to your left, and look to your right. If both those people look normal, guess what skippy! I hate idiots in cages when they feel they got something to prove to us riders. Keep Smiling it Make the Rice Burners Crazy! Kevin |

The only person to stop was Shred. We were riding together, and he was more concerned about my well being, than catching an idiot that had already proved to not care about his safety or the safety of others. Thankfully I was fine, the bike came out better than I could have imagined. After the dust settled and we got MrsG off the ceiling, I had a good excuse to buy more gear (I'm a gearwhore), and fix the bike (mods!!!) better than before. I learned a lesson that night, and found that Shred is a true friend. So all and all, everything turned out well. |

Bikes don't win against even the smallest cars Sometimes they do. Back in 94 I was riding my 92 Kawa Zephyr 750. I was severely hung over & shouldn't have been riding that day. Anyway, I was on a road for the first time & misjudged my line through a right hander plus hit a slippery spot. I went across the line as a Honda Civic was coming. I knew I wouldn't be able to get back across before impact so I tried shooting across to the ditch because it was the shorter distance to travel but there wasn't time for that either then.. *BOOM*. I bounced off the car's windshield & landed on my back. Here's the weird part. I didn't slide or nothing when I landed. I didn't get a scratch on me. Not on my helmet. Not on my jacket. Absolutely 100% unscathed. The bike had slightly bent forks, a broken front brake lever & a demolished front fender. The tank on the right side also had an interesting dent in it that perfectly matched the contour of my right knee. I rode the bike home but the car driver had to wait for a tow truck as his front end was too smooshed in to be driven. Everyone told me that day "You're gonna feel it tomorrow" but when tomorrow came I was fine. I went & hunted everyone down who told me that & danced a jig in front of them No soreness, no stiffness, no cuts & no bruises. No brains either. But fortunately, I learned a lot since then. On Edit: I forgot to mention that I was 24 years old & invincible at the time (Message edited by Metalstorm on January 28, 2007) |

Drunk people never get hurt in accidents (yeah, I know you were just hung over). They are like rag dolls. I drunk guy hit my friend, his brother, and their mother and father. Dad was in the hospital for a month. Mom died instantly. The other guy got out and walked away. His car was toast. (Message edited by ft_bstrd on January 29, 2007) |

Yep, not drunk. Just hung over. If I were on a road I knew it would have been a non issue. My reaction time & reflexes were good. I could even recite the alphabet backwards without stumbling. (That ability actually saved me from a ticket once), I just had a nasty distracting headache. Too much distraction for a road that was new to me. I was riding with a couple friends that day. One of them was Bigblock (fellow Badweber) and to this day he still can't believe my luck. I've been smart enough (& respectful enough)to stay away from the bike & car when I'm out drinking. It just never occurred to me that the next day the dog's teeth are still sharp! |
