MBIV = party, right? C3 Central is about 11 miles from TWO, all are welcome to come and hang out after dinner Friday and/or Saturday night.

Shorts and Tank top? I hope you plan on wearing more gear than that? EMS services aren't cheap in Suches either. Don't take it the wrong way, I'm NOT a gear nazi! You can do as you wish, just remember our roads bite back too. Smokescreen |

60 days and counting!!! Please put some gear on. I am trained in first-aid but I don't want to use that info that is in my head. I have seen some road rash in my day.... all nice and chunky with little pebbles and sand stuck in it... they clean that out with a wire brush..... |

i've ridden with dan, he wears gear. looks like a laconia pic. trust me, when these boys see the dragon for the first time they'll be zipped up tight as any of us. that road has a way of making things "real" very quickly. it's not that it's inherently dangerous just intolerant of anything but total focus at a any speed. |

Be sure to check out http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ for any current conditions or information. I'm not sure when they consider winter over, but I'm hoping it's before March 29th. |

Have to agree with you there Mike. If you have any brains at all, riding your own pace, with proper gear is essential. I've been bitten by the Wolf, but, wasn't caught with my pants down. Please, Please, lets make this safe, and sane. Remember, if you go down, Yours isn't the only day you ruin. Today, Hoover's son went down. He and the bike made it home fine. He'll be feelin it in the morning, to be sure. That mark you see on the tree, is where his bike hit. (Message edited by glitch on January 27, 2007) |

Speaking of gear, New River HD/Buell in Jacksonville, NC has Buell boots for $68.50 if anyone is interested. M2nc says they wear great. I think these are the same kind of Buell boots that Glitch just retired. |

I think these are the same kind of Buell boots that Glitch just retired. Wouldn't you know it! I've been looking for them for at least a month and a half. Now that I quit looking, I'm finding the everywhere...cheap! Maybe, MrsG will let me by a pair even though I just bought a pair of Sidis. I really like mine, it's just after two years or so of every kind of weather (minus snow), and over 25,000 + miles they're just too worn out. |

You just let me know what size and I'll bring them with me to MBIV! I think the total came to $74. Can't beat the price. I'm still searching for him a new riding coat, on sale of course! |

What kind is he looking for? Textile? or Leather? Kind of slim pickins in the leather. ANd, if I know you, you've already seen this stuff! |

Which ever I find the best deal on! I picked up an armored, perforated leather Icon jacket for Carlee. Had a price tag of $315, I paid $94 out the door. That's the kind of sale I want! The hardest thing is buying without being able to try on. The Buell jacket today was tight around his arms....so we're still looking. |

That's the kind of sale I want! And everyone else! If there's a Cycle Gear near y'all, you can do as I do, and try on what you're thinking about buying on line. especially since the kids were born.. Kids definitely put a whole new perspective on everything! Glad to hear, that pic wasn't representative of your habits. |

hey wolf, got to run the mx5 down our little version of the dragon for the first time since pulling it from storage. between cold roads and old tires it was a wonderful slide fest. i love rear wheel drive, especially with the blower. the increased torque removes that harsh snap-back that it had stock, it just happily drifts along.
not much room for error though |

Mike, PLEASE bring picks with you to MB, I think the blower would be the way to go instead of building a Monster. But a 302 in a Miata just sounds to cool....... |

My daughter and I did a pre-run to TWO Saturday. We rode in the SUV as I'm just getting over the flu. The weather was beautiful, temps were up to 57F in the valleys and 42F on top of Cherohala Skyway. We left from my place East of Knoxville to Suches. After stopping at Sm Mtn HD in Maryville, we went South on 411 to Vonore and then on several back roads to Tellico Plains. Then over the Cherohala Skyway to Robbinsville. The Tenn side of the Cherohala the roads were very clean, there had been a recent wind storm that blew trees down for miles. We could still see the tire tracks from the equipment they had used to get the trees out of the road. The N.C. side had salt and sand on the road from the Tenn boarder all of the way into the bottom of the valley. There was ice hanging on the rock cliffs but the roads were moisture free. We saw about a dozen four wheel vehicles but no bikes up there. From Robbinsville we continued South on 129 to 180 to Suches. This 180 I believe it is called Wolf Den Gap rd. is quite a twisty ride. The road surface is in good shape with turns not unlike the dragon. The center line has a hazzard though, they use raised reflectors on both sides of the yellow centerline. It looks like they replace them every year as there are little filled rumble like strips before and after them. Be careful on those. We went into TWO and met some of the good people there. They were preparing the meal for the evening. It smelled great. We could not wait to their opening time of 6:00 though because of the long trip back. This place really has the feel of a party waiting to happen! Reluctantly we left heading West on rt 60, another fine twisted piece of road. Wider, smoother, and longer than 180, it too has the reflector in the center line. Just stay in your lane and it'll be fun! On to 76W then 5N to 64/74W we eventually hit 40W to 75N and a Super Slab ride home. This would be a good way in from I75 if you are towing a trailer, there are plenty of turns but it is not over-burdoned with steep hills. For us it was a 210 mile trip from our place to TWO. It took six hours in a large SUV. I'm sure it will be an hour less in Buell time even with stops. There is no doubt this is one of America's most beautiful areas to ride. Buellers with tents, campers and or trailers heading in from the North, if your timing is such that you need a place to land for the night I'm twenty miles from I75, East of Knoxville. We leave for the Dragon and TWO Friday morning. PM me for info. |
