I went with the Special Ops and am very happy with it. It's not absurdly loud, but is definitely a big difference from stock and sounds great. It's priced well, Odie is great to deal with, and it lives up to what I wanted - more sound and mild performance gain without having to do too much. It even keeps the exhaust valve if you have a 12. |

D&D or Latus is the only way to go LOUD! You can check out the sound files at the American Sport bike site, under the Exhaust Shoot out section. just my 2cents. |

go with the drummer! i just got mine on 2 weekends ago, and could not be happier with the result. the fit, finish and craftsmanship are excellent - and it bolts right on fits just like your stock exhaust (because it is..). Kevin at KD FAB is awesome to work with, and though $425 is a little steep for a slip-on, i think it's worth every penny. Also, you don't have to get the ECM and filter - you can run it completely stock, so that's gonna save you about $300 or so....just my 2 cents... |

I bought the Jardine exhaust. I liked it pretty well but removed it because it wasn't loud enough. I run a straight pipe now. Absolutely nasty sound. No lack in power. I installed an exhaust reducer to inside the pipe to give it a little back pressure. I don't know if it's the sound or the fact that the ricers don't know what a Buell is but I never and I mean never get challenged on my Buell. (Message edited by mhfirebolt on January 22, 2007) |

I have the Jardine and will never buy one of their products again. It says it fits the 9 and the 12, but it certainly doesn't fit the 9. I had to do some serious modifications to the elbow to get it to mount, and it doesn't even seal. There is a serious exhaust leak out of the seam where the headers meet the elbow. The quality of the muffler is ok, but the brackets and elbow is complete crap. It also needs to be repacked every 5k miles or so. And for those who don't think it's loud enough, go get your ears checked. I can't even ride it w/out ear plugs. |

I've been through two Jardines because I didn't repack them quickly enough. They are not as loud as some of the other pipes, but they do sound good. If you want loud go all out and buy the Force. It is ungodly loud. Basically sounds like straight pipes, but it has some backpressure and cool headers. |

My drummer is plenty loud enough, anything louder in my helmet would drive me crazy. On the subject of jardines I had no problems with my old system, fit great and sounded good but I wanted the drummer to be able to still jack up the bike! |

+1 on the Force pipe, I have it and love it, but you will need a race ecm, or Direct Link and a dyno to make it run smoothly. My pipe is louder with the reverse taper megaphone, than with the stepped tube open headers. My friends on the rice rockets can't even hear there shit running, and nobody wants to ride within 10 bike links of me when we are just cruising. I think its making me deaf though. I'm gonna either put a Flowmaster on it or buy some earplugs. If you want loud, then this is the one. Just don't expect to "sneak" up on anyone. |

I had one and didn't like how loud it was, sold it to a badweb member and it shook itself apart in a short time frame. |

The D&D is pretty damn loud n has a nice growl to it when you work the right wrist. I'm actually thinking about selling mine and getting a drummer just BECAUSE its too loud. |

IZY, I noticed the jardine price has gone up a little at American Sport Bike. It's my understanding that the drummer is a much better pipe and not THAT much more out of pocket. Not sure of the sound difference though. Good luck. Since we're all talking exhaust... I'm looking at unloading my buell race muffler. I want to go the naked route and plan on getting a drummer SS. Anybody interested PM me. Sorry for the momentary hijack. |

If you get a Jardine get a Titanium. I actually heard from Jardine that they are going to discontinue the line for the XB. They probably aren't selling enough and the aluminum one fails easy cause the Vtwin engine shakes too violent for the soft metal. I like the pipe. 600s are always commenting on the sound the pipe makes. It's loud and intimidating...to bad my bike doesn't have the power to show them who's boss. |

In my opinion the straight pipe deal is a bad idea for a number of reasons. The #1 reason is It will make you and others around you def. #2 you wont be able to sense mechanical problems because the sound drowns everything out. I had my bearings fail on me which started out as a faint screeching which got louder. Being able to hear that probably saved me from getting stuck somewhere. Seriously, When my first Jardine came apart on me I hard to ride home with the exhaust pipe in my backpack and the loudness of it got real annoying fast. |

I have a Jardine in stock for like 230.00 But, like has been said, they blow apart if you don't keep up on the packing. A D+D or a Drummer or a Spec. Ops is a better choice |

I have the Jardine and loved it at first but after I heard the Force I really loved that so I straight piped my Jardine and got a lot better sound, close to but not exactly like the Force. As hard to believe as it is, it really is quieter inside the helmet while riding, as it's not the volume but the tone of the Jardine that makes it so unbearable. This modded Jardine makes for an awesome pipe in my opinion, cheap, sounds awesome at idle, people tell me they hear me coming from a mile away, and the sound level is very acceptable for the rider. It may not produce power like the other pipes but that wasn't why I changed exhaust in the first place. The only thing I was worried about was what it would do to my engine life but after talking to Kevin at KDFab, he assured me that it would be fine as the the ECM is always learning what fuel curve it needs and can adjust accordingly as long as there are no major mods such as porting or big bore. Have fun trying to get the bike to run perfect with a straight pipe. Running the bike in the garage with a straight pipe is fun once in a while, But I can tell you it will get old after a few miles. |

Hi Billybob, Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. No problems with the straight pipe. I did a lot of reading and research on exhaust systems before venturing into it. I have been running this setup for a year now. I don't remember the size of the pipe. It is however the same size as the header pipe that goes down under the bike into the stock muffler. It's approx. a foot long and exits at a 45 degree angle to the right side of the bike. I have a reducer inside the pipe to give it some back pressure and also acts as an anti reversion cone. I ran it for about a month without the reducer and found of course I had less power and the sound was just too nasty. I have noticed the most power since I've owned the bike with the setup I have right now. A lot more than stock or the Jardine pipe. Sorry, I haven't put it on a dyno yet. yes it is loud but not way to loud. Of course it has that Harley sound but it also sounds more like a very finely tuned hot rod when you get down on the throttle. No problems with the cops. Also no problems with the ricers because it simply sounds so mean. I have the Original Drummer (Upgraded) from Kevin at KD Fab. It is a GREAT pipe. I have had a D&D on my XB9 in the past, it was louder but the power is much smoother with the Drummer. The Drummer sounds just right and Kevin has the best customer service of ANY of the exhaust manufacturer's on the planet. He will talk to you on the phone and answer any and all of your questions personnaly. |
