Now that I can't even think about riding thanks to the record snowfall we had here during the holidays, I will have to pull mine apart and check into this. That picture is quite interesting.

Everyone should have their airbox base plate removed and reroute/shield these wires, the sooner the better...actually before they are even ridden. It seems that every bike has these problems.

Now is the time to do this stuff when the weather is bad...check plug wires real carefully too.

I inadvertently ordered two sets of Magnacore wires for my XB12Scg Lightning, will sell the spare set to anyone for $30 plus mail. Will work in any XB Buell. Pete Denzer, 304-258-4662.

Thanks for the heads up. My bike shows the exact type of plug wire and idle adjust cable wear thats pictured in previous posts.

Finally got a chance to pull mine apart and found only the idle adjuster cable extremely worn like the other pics. I wire tied it up off the motor mount as suggested. I did find the wires that cross over the front breather line rubbing together, but nothing major on the wires or breather. My bolt even came out rather easily. Rears were stickier than fronts, but all came out with out drama. I did find a lot of blowby in my airbox and lowered the breather lines when reinstalling them.

Well, I finally got around to finishing my idle cable reroute.
First I pulled, (literally), the factory ends off the original cable.
Then I used an 1/8" drill to re-open the crimped section of the ends.
Using a section of scrap speedo cable, I cut the inner cable and outer sleeve to length.
Not having the proper crimp dies, I used the clamp portion of my tubing flaring tool to crimp the ends on the inner cable.

Now my cable is under the seat next to the VDSTS cable. I haven't decided weather to leave it under the seat or out next to the VDSTS plug.
Works for me.

Peace
Milo

Sweet.

Did you go over or under the plate in front of the rear shock?

There is just enough room to follow the wire loom through the plate.

Peace
