These really look hot, just be careful about redundancy in your labels... For instance, the label for the Tach should read "x 1000", not "x 1000/min". It reads RPM, so it's already "per minute". The same is true for the Speedometer - just "x 10" is all that's needed. Just some constructive criticism |

just be careful about redundancy in your labels... yes, i agree. had the same thought after i posted and drove away earlier while looking at the dash in the car. i'll update. thnx for the comments. can't wait for the damn holidays to be over with so i can resume talks with the printer. lots should be figured out next week. |

how hard is it to take the bezel apart and replace the label ? |

very simple. i'm planning to create a little set of instructions with photos for replacement but basically, for the S models its like this.. . - remove flyscreen (4 hex screws) - remove 3 nuts + washers holding dash unit in place - unplug main harness from unit (i guess thats the correct term) - dash is free at this point - remove 7 perimeter Phillips-head screws from base - pull upper portion of dash unit up and away from base - carefully pull or pry needles straight up and off (extra care here, straight up is KEY!) - pull stock dash face up and away from base, there is some adhesive but nothing major, a hairdryer helps - voilą, you are ready for a new dash face! - installation is reverse |

Now I know you have to take the needles off to get those things on, but what about re-calibrating the needles like on automobiles when you do this kind of thing..? -Cale |

RE: KPH, i plan to make a version but cost will probably keep my first print run to MPH. only update is the printer is driving me nuts with slooooowness. i'm waiting on another revised spec sheet. RE: needle removal and recalibration... nope. just patience and care is required to remove/install. more as i hear it... i think i'm going to give another contact a call. getting tired of the delays between spec sheets. |

Typeone......... Are you going to sell these on a first come first serve basis after you have them or will you go by who asked you for them first before you had them made? Just wondering........ |

with the quantity i need to get made, there would be plenty for everyone, most places wont do low quantity. anyone who asked/purchased, would get one delivered as soon as i had the final product in hand. the plan is to get in bed with a print house, get the first lot printed up, join BadWeb as a sponsor, offer the first design up for sale. i already have a site ready to go : ) if all goes well, produce more designs (including KPH) and offer them up as they are ready. i can see it now... 'collect all 4!' hahaa. (but seriously, i could see myself swapping in and out designs) i'm in talks with 4 different places right now. |

Any chance of getting blank dash plates die-cut to shape? |

Chainsaw, thats right in line with one of my thoughts... get blanks made up with the diffuser backing in place ready for a faceplate on top. not sure yet but i can ask the reps i'm working with if they could throw blanks in too. |

Typeone, I'm not sure if you are still getting the run around with your print shop, but if you are, maybe you could check out either www.classicinstruments.com or www.haneline.com. They both do custom faceplates for hot rod guages. Both are strait up guys to deal with. |

Type, I figured you had your ducks in a row, but more choices never hurt, especially when the vendors you work with seem to be dragging their feet. I build stuff also, so I know what you're going thru with development delays. I like what you are doing, keep up the good work. I'll get one for mine when I see final choices. |

Thanks, Toona. Brad_buell, no update other than more communication. I found a new vendor who also works with GM on small runs for auto faceplates, etc. so its been easier to figure out quantity/pricing. most places want to do HUGE runs of only 1 design. i'd love to offer a slight variation so i'm working with a new rep to try and finalize. the problem has been that most vendors also want to work with thinner material than the stock unit. i want the faceplate to be a quality unit that looks great and can take the elements. UV protection, etc. hasn't been an issue but no matter how many times i say i need .030 poly i get quotes with .010! just causes more rounds of estimation/quotes which is where the feet dragging begins. looks like this wont happen as fast as i'd like, but i'm definitely working on it thanks again for the interest! I need to get a set of the XB9R face plate before they kill that model. The orange face matches the valencia much better than the blue from Buell. Bike was originally Hero Blue. |

ok, small update. i found some time last night to pick this up again... next week I should have a test gauge face in place on the bike with shots in the dark to see how things shake out from a lighting perspective. if it works, i may have found a way to produce a series of face designs but also allow for custom one-offs at a slightly higher price. more news next week with pics |
