Who makes the best service manual overall for a 97 S1? I thought there was one online in the tech section but it doesnt seem to work.

Contact your local Buell dealer or a Badweb sponsor. The Buell manual is excellent and readily available.

Reading it will make you a better person.

The plot is long and rambling... but overall, a good read.
