Tim - Thanks for the offer. I'd love to take a look. Don't know if I can get away before Tues or not, but I'll give it a try. |

Mike...Good to see you and Michael are having fun together. I can honestly say some of the best times of my life were on a dirt bike in my early teens. I have no doubt he will be a skillful rider soon! Keep up the good times, and take care. My son bought a new computer, and gave me his old one for x-mas. I got it hooked up with road-runner a little while ago. All I can say is WOW! This is really gonna be fun. I'm finally able to watch videos. The light on my celing fan disentegrated the other day. The pot metal box that holds the lights and switches became brittle and was falling apart. Today was the day for repairs. After a trip to the store with Jesse, I had a hacksaw, 3/8 inch bit, 1 1/2 x 1/16 Al bar stock, 2 inch screws, and a vague idea of what I wanted to accomplish. Lesson number 1. Don't hold bar stock in your hand as you attempt to drill a 3/8 inch hole in it.
In the end that lesson was learned in vain because it turns out the size I really needed was 7/16" not 3/8". Fortunately I found a unibit in my toolbox, so could drill the correct hole size. Then I fitted, and tapped and assembled, drilled more holes and I was done. Very proud of my construction:
I went to put the globe on my creation and OH PHEQUE. I didn't angle the bulbs like they were in the original design, and they don't fit in the globe. In dispair and heartbreak, I cleaned up my tools. Then a divinely inspired idea occurs. Shorter bulbs
A quick trip to the store yields "fan bulbs." Significantly shorter than regular light bulbs. But still not short enough. Yes, Virginia, they make even shorter bulbs:
I'm a happy camper now. |

Good job Jim. Couldn't you angle them now? Your accident reminds me of when I was modding my airbox. Went to drill a hole in the lid and the dremel bit caught and spun lid before breaking the bit. Thought I was going to lose an eye. |

Haven't posted in a while. I've been really busy with work. Last week I went to work on Monday morning, got home about 5am Tuesday morning, had a broken water line, so I couldn't get a shower. I had to go back to work and I worked until about 8pm. I wound up putting in about 80hrs last week. Ahhh fun. I will say this, for those of you with Uly's. This area is definitely ULY country. There are a TON of awesome twisty roads, kinda rough, lease roads, etc... I'll try to get some more shots of them with my phone or camera. Below are some rough shots with my phone.

Mike, I could probably figure out how to angle them, but I'd have to take the thing apart again to do it. Southern, good to hear from you again! Looks like nice countryside where you are living. |

I'm not a bright eyed and bushy tailed person at that time either. AMEN Jim, if the weather hadn't been iffy Webe would have had his 1000 miles BEFORE Christmas....(Remember actual Uly birthday was Dec 7) I predict Webe will be in need of the 5000 mile service before March Badness. Webe's BG |

Hello from Cincinnati! I am glad to see that you only lost the tip of your finger Jim. A small price to pay for your creation! Imagine the satisfaction you will have every time you turn on the light! Webe's BG - Hello, tell Webe to get busy and ride. I suspect that Jim has probably caught me mileage wise by now. I'm glad to hear John is out of the hospital, tell him hello for me and that I will check on him when I get back next week. Southern - Good to hear from you and great country side. One year when I do my cross-country ride, I will have to stop by and you can show me all the good roads. Don't work too hard. Well I am waiting for our defecto director to show up. We are going to check out the new HD/Buell store Aces & Eights. The HD part has been there a while but the Buell part is new from what I understand. Later! |

I just looked up the procedure for removing the headers from the Uly (whats the chance I can get them off and back on w/o installing another helicoil?) The "rotate the engine down" step looks intimidating. Has anyone done this before? |

Deal, Deal, Deal!!! I just got back from Uke's H-D/Buell. My Christmas present arrived. Just a Race Hat and Race Shirt, and sadly no motorcycle. I will spill the cool details of my entire trip up here after I get back to NC, but I thought some of you might like to know about the deal I found at Uke's. They have 2 sets of the Torque Hand Grip kits on sale at $32.50 (plus tax, of course). These are the grips with Buell wording and Pegasus on them that retail for $79.99. If anyone is interested, you will need to call me on my cell phone to make sure that I pick them up on my way out of town tomorrow morning. My cell phone is 252 671 1347. I just checked out the Buell website and noticed that the retail price has been dropped to $49.99, so it is not as much of a deal as I originally thought. Torque Grips Let me know, 1313 (Message edited by 1313 on December 29, 2006) |

Hey Jim, they said we were supposed to 'rotate the engine' to replace the rear motor mount a few years ago in Suchas. Shouldn't be that hard, I got a big stack of wood out back all in different sizes!!!! |

Seen Jim friday, on 55 crossing over US1 On the Uly(at least I guessed it was him), but he was to far away to catch. And Saw a Uly yesterday on 95...around Daytona. Looking around at houses, and spent New Years Eve at Disney, but it was too long a day for us all to stay till 2am. Talk to you all soon. Happy New Year to you all. Larry |

I went to see Cirque's jungle performance last night. It was incredible. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Get at table. Stack 2 paint cans on top of it. Place a 6 inch length of 4 inch diameter pipe on top of the cans. Stack 2 more cans on top of the pipe. Add another pipe, transverse to the first, on top of those cans. Put another can on top of that pipe. Put a board on top of that can. Stand on the board. While you're on the board, get a couple of hula hoops... It blew my mind. |

As opposed to striped? There was a time I know how to spell well enough to know if that word meant "to look like a zebra," or "to become naked." Sadly that time has passed. |

You've had the chicken pox right? Yes. I was in first grade. I got up, looked in the mirror, and thought I had the Measles. I figured they would give me a shot if they found out, so I hide my spots and went to school anyway. I was discovered about noon. I'm sure I infected about half the class. |

Hope everybody's off to a great start for the new year! Damn, we need a get together. It's been too long. I'm thinking about doing a 100 mile mixed dirt road/ paved road ride near Asheville on 1-14 if the weather's good. A local shop up there is putting it on and it's supposed to be a really nice route. Very scenic. Street tires should be fine. I'm not crazy about slabbing it back and forth so I might just throw the bike on the trailer and cruise up for the ride. Anybody interested? |

Merry Christmas again (for those who know it is also celebrated on Jan 6 by some)... and just plain Hello!!!

I heard from The Boy (Jlnance) He did, indeed, go to Burkes Garden. He FINALLY got to run 623, which he's been dying to do ever since he spotted it on a satellite map. He said he got to Wytheville, started on 623, and . . . it turned out to be a single lane, packed clay (no pavement) road, cut into the side of the mountain, with snow on it. He eventually made it to pavement and got to Tazewell just fine. I've asked him to find a different route home. I seriously doubt he'll listen! |
