I'm thinkin about getting a set of these bags: http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=3&CategoryID=4&Produ ctID=2225 The Buell site notes that it includes "Includes saddlebag support brackets and reflector relocation brackets"... Is it necessary to relocate the stock reflectors? Do they interfere with the bags? I wired up some extra brake lights to my reflector brackets, so I can't really / dont want to loose em... |

I run 'em on my lightning without the reflector brackets. I just wrap the velcro around the signal light stalk. You need something to wrap the velcro around. |

I had them, the stock tail pieces aren't needed. |

I ordered a set in September and they just came in last week. Frustrated, I declined. If you have trouble finding them I know where you can find a pair. |

I have these as well but have not mounted them yet. I would think the relocation of the reflector is more because the bag blocks the stock ones when they're mounted. And you don't need to wrap any velcro around anything for these, except for the straps that go under the seat. The bracket slips into pockets on the inside of the bags and supports them. |

The reflector relocation is just for visibility. The stock reflectors will be blocked by these bags. I'm pretty sure I have some in stock if you want to see pics of the brackets. Basically, it is a black L shaped bracket that slides into the back of the bags. Then straps install under the seat. |

those bags work great on my 12r, just go easy on the zippers. |

How much crap can you fit in those bags anyway? I always wondered, because they look small, and I need something for a long trip this summer.. |

I run them on my FireBolt when I'm going somewhere (like Daytona) or need to haul some stuff. There are decent size and a great fit. I like em a bunch! |

I've been to Bike Week for ten days and had to wash my clothes once when I was there. So maybe about 5 days worth of clothes for me. 3 pair of jeans, T-shirts, 1 sweatshirt, boxers and socks, extra set of gloves and bathroom stuff, everything fit well. I do use a back pack in conjunction with the bags. I travel light and easy. |

Go easy on the zippers? How do you mean? |

I haven't actually broken the zippers, but have heard stories of the zipper part coming off, I know my little zipper tassles were easily ripped off... |

Put a used set on my 9sx, makes the bike so much more useful! The fit is a little "floppier" then I like, and it would be nice if they would come off without me removing the seat, and the way they mount across the battery is a little unsettling, but these are minor nits and probably all lightning specific. They are good bags and I am happy with them. You can get a lot more stuff in there then it looks like. |

^^ The battery thing is Lightening specific. As for the fit, I can't see a soft bag mounting anymore solidly than these do with the bracket they use. But again, mine aren't on the bike yet, so I can't really comment. |

I have them and did not relocate the reflectors. I really like them. Thanks. This is what I wanted to hear. Just wanted to know if I could leave the stock reflectors alone. I'd probably glue some reflectors to the bags themselves as an alternative... |

Mine are waterproof. I rode through an hour of torrential rain for over an hour on my way to Deals Gap in October and everything inside the saddle bags was bone dry when I arrived. I really like my Buell bags and trunk bag. Plenty of room for a week of travel. |

I have them and can carry enough for 1 week. Then do laundry. I hotel it however. Do get topcase. Otherwise too small. Top-case carries all my street clothes. I also travel light. |

I have a favor to ask of those that own the saddlebags. Can you take a photo of the inside with something for size comparison? It would be a HUGE help to me. Maybe a book, or shoe or something for comparisons. I have never seen these bags in person, and everyone differs on how much space they need for a weekend trip. Thanks in advanced. |

I rode a City-X with those and the top bag with the tank bag also. Very handy. They extend about 2 inches with the second zipper as does the top and tank bag. I went on many three day trips with them and they are great around town except that zippers don't lock. Mine were not waterproof but that can be fixed with a spray can of waterproofer. Top bag would hold a medium pizza. Sorry I don't have pics. |

I live in New Jersey near Atlantic City. I have traveled to Lake Placid in one day and spent three days there. I have also traveled to St Michaels for a long weekend. I recently just went across four states on my city-x with the bags. They are great. Here is how I roll. Buell Saddlebags (can be widened to 2 more inches), Buell Trunk bag (can also be extended over two inches, Cortech minitank bag. All the storage I need or want quite frankly. I love them. |

I've got those bags, the only word of advice I have is make sure you cover the body plastic with tape or something similar. I scratched up the body pretty bad picking up rocks and whatnot. They buffed out with little effort, but it was a bit of a pain. |

I have the lightening bags and have held the firebolt ones. The firebolt bags are smaller. they are narrower the whole length. they have a similar shape. and the same under tail bulge to get more space, but they start off slimmer than the lightning bags. i love my lightning bags too, and they are good for a pair of jeans and a tee shirt, a pair of shoes (w/ a pair of socks stuffed in each) plus a couple of 16oz waters Before being expanded. i'm guessing that the firebolt bags would do the same After expanding, plus maybe a little more room for a cell phone etc... |

I just got mine from an online HD dealer and ran into a small problem where the right side saddle bag has a left front cover/lid attached to it. It was one of those things where I put them on, and I did not like look or fit. But it took 2 nights of a beer(s) and staring at it to figure it out, as I had convinced myself that they just got squished in shipping at first! Hopefully all will o well with the dealer, and soon I'll have the correct right side bag. Y'all know how sometimes you are pretty, some times you are smart....after looking at these photos and how obvious the problem is (once you split the bags and out them side by side), I must be drop dead gorgeous! My wife keeps telling me I have 2 left feet I assured I don't, but now I have 2 left lids! Keep Your Knees to the Breeze! Kevin "The Wee Lad"

I'm looking at getting saddlebags in the near future, and I'd like to see some dimensions and a picture with a size reference of some sort. A standard size sheet of typing paper would be good, 8 1/2 x 11 or maybe a ruler? |
