Is this the infamous rocker box gaskets? I went from not dripping at all... to dripping from two different places! Both appear to be the center of the bike... one in front of the muffler/shock, maybe the oil cooler lines or something? And the other is dripping from behind the muffler/shock. |

I doubt it... there appears to be ugly oil sludge under the motor in both areas. Tonight I'll clean all the sludge off so I can tell exactly where it's coming from. |

Well, it certainly could be the rocker box gaskets. You should be able to see it coming out between the head and lower rocker box. For some reason it seems to be common for the leaks to be at the front of the front cylinder and the rear of the rear cylinder. |

I found the oily areas and snapped a couple pictures. No idea where it's actually coming from, but my guess it it's the oil cooler lines, where they attach to the motor. Looks like the reason I have 2 oil leaks is that some is dripping right down, and some is creeping down the underside of the motor towards the back before it drips down. I cleaned it all up and road 60 miles. There was a hint of fresh oily residue on the case by the cooler lines when I got back... but not enough for me to worry about it. We'll see if it leaks again. The oil cooler lines are just above where these pictures cut off.

Yeah, that is the same leak i have for the most part... well, one o fmy many leaks... Anyway, those bolts that hold the voltage regulator, adn the front exhaust hangar, they tend to loosen for some reason. snug them up... use wd40, or equivilent to clean the oil... And do the same down low. The case is a machined surface, with no gasketSo, just a simple snugging up to torque should suffice... You are gonna need to check this spot every so often, seems to me once it has gotten loose, it will continue to do so... Also, check the base gaskets... where the cylinders meet the case... Chase |

Mike: Did you check the oil filter? Just feel along the bottom of it and see if it's oily. I had a loose oil line on my M2. It was pretty obvious because the oily residue was right at the fitting and the drip of oil came off the line. I just gave it a little turn until it was snug and no more oil leak. Mark |

the oil on that area of the engine would make me think about checking the cooler hardware and the front base gasket as well as the filter |
