Hi, I own one RSS 1200 Westwind (single seater) year model 1991 (-92 reg.). I would like to know how many of them Buell REALLY made. I tried "Search" but all I can get is different numbers. On most pages it is written that 40 pieces is made but somewhere they say 125? Is somebody mixing info of RSS1200 and RS1200/5 or what? Have I understood right that models are: RS1200........(2 seater, 4-gears) RS1200/5...(2 seater, 5-gears) RSS1200......(1 seater, 5-gears, made only 1991) (and whatta heck is RSS1200/5 ???) Correct me if I'm wrong. Where can I get the real info? Now I try here. Thanks Smuige |

Here is one of the more accurate counts.... Production Numbers for the Buell Motor Company were as follows: Model Qty Buell Show Bike -1- Lucifer's Hammer Race Bike -1- 1987 RR1000 -50- 1988 RR1200 -9- 1989 RR1200 -34- 1989 RS1200 -7- 1990 RR1200 -16- 1990 RS1200 -95- 1991 RS1200 -67- 1991 RSS1200 -40- Kits -15- 1992 RS1200 -30- 1992 RSS1200 -68- 1993 RS1200 -3- 1993 RSS1200 -6- 1993 RR1200 SP -1- Total -443- Approximately 120 of the above went overseas including Japan, Germany and France.

And 5 of those come to Switzerland (Europe) 1991 RS1200 -3- 1991 RSS1200 -2- So it means that RSS1200 production numbers are totally: (Is this Official info???) 1991 -40- + -15- (kits RS or RSS?) = -55- 1992 -68- 1993 -6- ----------------------- RSS 1200 -129- ???? Damn, I thought only 40 were made and I have an very rare motorcycle ... Ok, at least it's first registered Buell in Switzerland. I'll be back with some questions... I am not sure of the breakdown of the kits. If you were to send Court(Canfield) an email with your vin number.....He might be able(wink, wink)to supply you with more information. Like the actual build sheets for the bike. Still a rare beast to own though. Let alone be able to ride. For me, I happen to own one of the '92 RS bikes. One bike I have really come to appreciate. Enjoy the RSS and post some pics of it. |

Court hangs out around here(BadWeb). Look at the topic header "Court in session". I have forwarded your info to him(as well as a copy to you). Give him some time, as he is generally kinda busy. He will respond to it. Loki |
