so i'm going to be tweaking out the XB all winter with lots of black anodized goodies and finally started my dash project. here's some samples of what i've mocked up so far... thanks again to Chainsaw for the AI template!! i'm diggin' #3 + #7. i think #7 will be the winner for the first print run. crazy minimalistic. dig it.. . I love the last one. I'd just get rid of the "0" on the left and the dots on the right. |

thnx guys, still working on it, these are the first round of pixel pushing exercises forgot to add that the ones without numbers but have dots, the dots are placed at 30/60/80/130 on the MPH side and 3K/4K/7K on the RPM side. pretty much all the info i need. hehee. i can see it now... PoPo: "you know how fast you were goin' Son?" ... typeone: "uh, hmm, well, i know i was above the third dot" hahaa! |

I like the blank w/ dots Pegasus, but I'd knock out the dots and actually put the relevant numbers in their place with a tick mark. JMHO. ~SM |

Nice job! Very clean and cool. I would replace the "Speed Run" with "Goin' to Jail" |

thnx, Chainsaw. finally took advantage of your template i'll prob print up that one first, and yeah, few other have said the same thing... JAIL.. hahaa! what did you find was the best media to print onto? i'm thinking heavy-weight transparency film with maybe a white backing or something. i can't print white but basically i want anything that is white, to glow. underneath the stock dash panel is just three lights, correct? i've yet to take eveything apart but i'm dong that soon. |

To further Chainsaw's idea, how about replacing "Town, Highway, Speedrun" with "Misdemeanor, Felony, Jail" You make one of the simple ones with the skull, I'm buyin'... |

Yes! If you go into production, I'd definitely take your 4th one down. What a major improvement over stock! |

Plus, how did you do that? Could you email out the template? I have a few idea my self. Is it just a photoshop thing? Man, I have a Mac, how do I edit or change anything? Any Mac geeks out there, let me know? I could use some help out there. Not with the dash thing but just photo shopping and stuff like that in general. It seems like my comp is loaded with just about everything but some sort of paintbrush or cool photo editing stuff. Unless I've never seen it. Mark |

We've had threads on this board before. Glitch did up some blank templates and a few people customized them to suit their own sense of style. I currently run this one...
I based it on this one glitch made...
there were several itterations though (this one needs a little cleaning up)...

I agree, if you start making these i would buy one as well. that skull is awesome and I like a bunch of them. I like the first one with the squigly thing in there but the 4th and 8th ones are great too. |

I did one myself but I ended up removing it because the lights from the speedo showed through my graphics. Very confusing at night! |

I don't even have an XB yet and I want one! Favorite is the 4th one but with the Pegasus. But they all rock. Question. What is up with the fit between the dash and flyscreen on the Lightnings? I was at the dealer today and noticed that I could almost fit my hand between them on the right, and they rub together on the left. It looks all crooked. The pics above is the best fit I've seen. |

I tried taking my dash apart, but I could not get the needles off. I tried pulling and prying, but they were on there good, and I didn't want to damage them. Anyone have any good advice? Are they held on there by something I could have missed? Awesome designs. I want one, but I don't know if I want to tackle taking the needles off again. |

I was driving home from a Christmas Party this evening and that's when I noticed it... My dash in my truck is lit up from the back and is black but lit up mostly from the back. It seems that my XB is a silver/white or mostly light colored faceplate. Is this because the faceplate is lit up not from the rear but in conjuntion with lights shining ON the faceplate? I have not torn mine apart to examine it. So, my mind was thinking... It seems that a few of us have done better ideas with theirs already. But they seem to be of a white background. I'm wondering how to make the black background work. I mean that black background is just tits, man. I love it.!! I have printed it off and if you print it off as a5x7 it's an exact fit. That seems easy enough. Now just to print so some applicable material. I wanna give this thing some wings SOON. I love this idea. Any thoughts?? Mark |

what did you find was the best media to print onto? The best I've found was white card stock paper. I've tried the transparency, but in daylight it was too clear, and at night it was too bright an illegible. Plus, how did you do that? Could you email out the template? I have a few idea my self. Is it just a photoshop thing? I used Adobe Illustrator on a Mac. I make my living with that program. You can get a trial download at adobe.com. Work paid for my copy. I tried taking my dash apart, but I could not get the needles off....Anyone have any good advice? Details here Basically pull up. I've done it a dozen times without incident. YMMV. Glitch did up some blank templates and a few people customized them to suit their own sense of style Don't sell me short Diablobrian! All due respect to Glitch, I provided the blank templates, and a bunch of Badwebbers stepped up to host the art for the masses. |

hey, killer! thnx for the props on these guys i'll keep this thread updated with new designs and materials i end up finding what worked best. just a fun winter project for now but judging from the response, might be worthwhile to do a few runs for other peeps. i worked on these designs super-quick so i've got lots more in the bag to play around with. by the way, Mikexlr650, i created one with an old-skool Porsche font (i've got a '66 912), looked pretty sweet but i'm on the hunt for a newer P-car font as well. I like the "dots" with the pegasus a whole lot! Would need the dots at 25/45/55/75/100 though. The spaces could be labeled: Town/Country/Highway/Speed run/Goin to jail. I'd buy one. Tank |

Ok guys, here's my current graphic: http://www.147db.com/tech/dashboard.jpg The old background must be completely erased with sandpaper to avoid the see-throug effect in certain conditions... I've designed some others graphics too, like an original look alike with a more electrical blue on it: http://www.147db.com/varie/strum_7b.jpg http://www.147db.com/varie/strum_9.jpg Bye! |
