Hey Court there are people that would like to see some of those pics you took of the STT. I'm certainly one of them. Of course you are correct in that you cannot change the mind of someone that is un-willing to change. That's true no matter where you are, not just on the 'net. |

Now folks, people can change their minds. I swore I'd never own a Buell as they fell apart, caught fire, etc., etc., but now I have a Blast (two kids getting ready for college, mortgage, etc) and have discovered that Buells rock. In six years I'll be buying a new bike, probably a Buell, so I'd love to see Court's pictures. |

Well. . . . the story sure needs to be told. Few will be amazed, few minds will change, but this is a bike that deserves a closer look. I'm still laughing. A guy comes in my office the other day and we're talking about the new Buell XBRSTT and he, a hopeless follower of the "I let the internet do my thinking" mindset reeled off some drivel about "parts bin" and "lack of functionality" of the white side plates on the new Buell. He lectured me about having anything on a vehicle that was not purely functional. I could only chuckle as he drove away in a Cadillac Escalade with chromed simulated visual impact "pimp venting" on the front fenders. What was Cadiallac thinking anyway? If I was buying a $65,000 "land boat" and found they stylists had capitulated and done something for "looks" Id' be agast.
Damn "parts bin" truck . . . I called out as he drove away. Court |

Riddle me this Bat Man . . . it's November 1, 2006. . . you assignment, should you choose to accept it. . . is to build a Buell from the population of existing parts. So you go to the parts bin. Which one would you choose?
Choose wisely . . . lest you risk looking like a net-sheep led by vocals nay-sayers, speaking quickly whilst thinking slowly. |

eithere - or they have the same setting adjustments, you just need to count a little more. But with the left one you open yourself to more options as far as ergonomics go. If it were my call I would use the left ones with a h-bar change and the Ss tail with a firebolt seat set. kinda like a XB12Rs. also I would use the SS frame for more fuel. But thats me. also I would have Erik sit on the line next year and sign all the frames and clear coat them for te 25th aniv. |

The only thing that will vindicate the TT is sales. So it has a different fork. So what? How does that make it better in a measurable sense? Is it faster? Handle better? or is this new fork just cheaper at the bottom line?? The negative reaction seen on BWB had more to do with the HYPE and the Attitude of BMC with regard to the bike than the bike itself. If BMC had called it an XB12 CityX and touted its new suspension. That would have been cool enough. Some would have been happy, others would not have noticed or cared much. But, to set it apart as a distinct new model and call it a "supermoto Styled" whateverthehell... that's kinda lame and generated almost universal disappointment. Of course, the reaction in Europe may have been different, and maybe europeans are the only customers buell cares about anymore? Maybe they've given up on the US market? I don't know. Nick |

I cannot understand why people get upset about a company in the "sales" business "hyping" a "new product". What don't they understand about sales. Every company under the sun does exactly the same. I object to companies that change "problem" to "feature", but thats just me and microsoft. Software bloat is a much bigger problem that Buells new model intro. Personally thinking of buying one of these, my nephew wants one bad and will go half if he can ride it on weekends. He travels a lot in his computer job, so I could ride it during the week and store it for him. |

Hello Court (I posted this in the vault, but I think it may fit better here). I am a huge tank bag fanatic. I like to have a few things with me when I roll. Guess thats a by product of being an e-glide rider unfortunately. I am thinking I'd like to put the XBSX X-Guard on my XBS. I have the voltage custom paint set so I'd really like to protect it. Can you think of a reason it should not fit. If so, does anyone know the part number I could not find it online anywhere and my local Buell dealer really seems to know less about Buells than I do. Thanks, Keep Your Knees to the Breeze! Kevin |

Me too, me too, me too! I want an "X"! |
Diablobrian

There is no part number for the "X". I went through all of this when I wanted one for my firebolt. You need to find a city-x airbox cover, or someone that removed the X from their city-X. On the good news side there are probably some translucid covers with the X that got over tightened and cracked at the bolts available for cheap if you can find them. I got one from Al at American Sport Bike for a very reasonable price, but it took me a bit to get all the ducks in a row to make things happen. Buell's official line is that they do not sell the X alone because of the volatile nature of the adhesive and the need to use a fixture to center and clamp the airbox cover while the adhesive cures. They do not believe that this is something that can be done properly at the home/dealer level. I attached mine with an automotive trim adhesive. I used blue painters tape to make the outline of where it should go, and followed the adhesive instructions to the letter. I used the same blue painters masking tape to hold the X down and in position while the glue cured. I gave it twice as long as the instructions called for before I attempted to use it. I love the X and I think it should be available on any color of airbox cover if they are not going to offer it as an individual part#. This was discussed during the second seminar at homecoming this year, but I have not heard of them making changes in the way things are done. Tank bags are one of the most common aftermarket accessories with Buell owners. The X should be available for all XBs not just the City-X. |

>>>>There is no part number for the "X". The part number is M0031.1AJ - GUARD, air box cover and is clearly shown as a separate service part on page 66 of catalog 99571-05Y . . . if I am not mistaken. You are correct about the concerns over installation. Buell has rigged a pretty neat placement and positioning jig to do the ones at the factory. I'm not going to pictures shot inside the factory, but if you want to drop me a note with your phone number I can describe the process and where I am at in my effort to "Free the "X"'s" Court |

Hmmm that's got to be a recently released part #, or an internal use part number. DaveS and Al were my main contacts when I started my quest for an "X" in march/april (?) and at that time neither of them could come up with a valid part number for the X without buying the whole cover assembly in a designated City-X color. That's why I went the route I did to get an X on my white firebolt. If they have started selling them separately that's good news for a bunch of Buellers! |

John: Welcome to Badweb, a good source of Buell information. I am not that familiar with the set-up you are wanting to do. . . BUT. . . you are in the right place, because some folks here are very knowledgable. There is a TECHNICAL section where such things are discussed. . . I'll see if we can get one of the moderators to move your enquiry to a place where it will be answered. Again. . . Welcome to badweb. Court Canfield |

How can this be? The Uly has had the clock/ trip odo rest problem for several months. The bike has been to the dealers 3-4 time for this problem, they had it over 6 weeks in total and it still isn't fixed. The dealer opened an incident with Buell Tech Support on 1/7. I've seem numerous posts of others having this problem yet Buell Tech Supports says they have no record of others having this problem?? Seems to me this is one of the top 10 issues I've seen on this site in the past 9 months. Whats happened to the all encompassing data collection system at Buell? Below is a portion of a note sent to me by the Service Manager. "Hi Paul, Just to update you. The guy at Buell Tech that we are talking to is the head engineer for the electonics for all the Buells. He's told john that it's a closed loop where the only components in the loop are the wiring harness, ECM and instrument cluster. He says the battery has no effect as long as it has power....and yours has enough amperage to turn over the motor so it'll run a clock/trip meter. So....changing the battery like that fellow did we all find a little hard to believe that it fixed his similar issue. Also....The fellow at Buell is not aware of this problem and has never heard of it before. So if Buell Tech doesn't know of the problem how come it's so wide spread on the web?" |

Blake told me I was posting in the wrong area so here goes again: Court, Are you still around? I've been trying to get in touch with you about the tank situation with my S1, haven't heard from you in a couple of months now and Spring is hopefully just around the corner. I think maybe your email doesn't like my email, or something? If you see this, please get in touch with me at my other email address hogluvr1340@yahoo.com Thanks, Mike |
