I'm about to buy a new Blast for my wife, I have no plans for performance mods, but I don't want it to run lean, I suspect like most bikes they are lean from the factory to meet EPA regs. Any suggestions for jetting with stock exhaust and air box? |

I have no suggestions for rejetting -- these guys are experts at that while I'm not too mechanically inclined -- but I've had no noticable issues with my Blast with the factory settings except that I only get 70 mpg in the city instead of the estimated 71. |

Welcome to the board R80rt! You will want to check out the following link: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/6812.html?1163562814 Blasts do like to run rich. I would recommend across the board to make sure you have good gas in it, a 170 main jet and a 45 primary, then I would shim the needle .050. That will cause the Blast to start well and run without hesitation throughout the entire RPM range. |

like swampy said , so if its new you'll just need the 45 primary since the 2002 on already have the 170 main . then after a few weeks of her riding it tell her to stop by here so we can fill her in on how much more potential the blast has once you get it breathing properly |

I'd just go with a 45 primary myself. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

R80rt , the change to a 45 primary should be all you need . that will make the biggest difference and you/she'll not have to slip the clutch trying to get out of the driveway |

I think I missed something. Sometimes I think not knowing anything is a good thing. |

yes rainman it is....I was gone long enough that I am all but clueless as to the drama that is the Thumper Forum...As for jetting, well experimenting is healthy enough within reason and "Jets" are cheap. Make sure you read the manual and know what it is you are going to be doing. See waht feels good and then find a Dyno and see if you are correct. As for my Jetting 45/175 with a pipe and an intake...I used a 180 but didn't like the feel; though in this cold it would probably work fine. |

I think you'll be just fine with the stock jetting. Drilling out the idle mixture adjustment screw plug (and adjusting the mixture) would be a good idea. Going to a 44 or 45 slow jet would be okay too. I concur with most of whats been posted, but I dont think a lean condition is much to worry about with the Blast unless you experience problems. |
