Does such a animal exist? I know Trojan was working on something in that area. I am 5'8" with a 32" inseam and even with the low seat and the rear suspension cranked down I am on the ball of one foot. I would at least like to get both feet or toes on the ground somewhat. I'm a very experienced rider, but am not comfy with the stock setup, I need two inches. | ||

Daves, Any chance you could forward the same email to me? I'd be curious to know what the mods entailed. I can ride the '07 as it is, but it's tall enough that I wouldn't feel comfortable two-up on it and can't back it up while sitting on the bike. | ||

Spoke with the person that does the suspension work. I see him all the time at the Race Track. I trust anything he'd do. Says it lowers the bike about 35mm. What's that, like 1&1/2 inches. Worth it to me. Now, I would guess you'd have to get the kickstand shortened? | ||

yep, what we do is cut out about 1" of the stand just above the pad that goes on the ground. Then we put a steel "slug" inside the kickstand tube for strength and weld it back together and repaint it. By cutting and shortening it there the spring and other stuff still work like original | ||

I believe my Ulysses was the trial horse for the lowering that is being discussed. I ran it hard for two days at Road America and then rode it home 1500 miles and in my opinion it is well worth doing. I am not short but for my usage the lowered bike is much better. As an aside I did not shorten the sidestand and like it better standing the bike up a bit more vertical. YMMV. regards ref | ||

I wonder how much it would cost to convert a Ulysses to TT suspension? Would it be cheaper than having the shock and fork legs reworked? Would I have to replace the entire front fork, or would the TT legs just slide into the triple clamps? Are the front axles between the two the same? Just how involved would changing the suspension get?  Of course, if I spend the money, and get a Uly that will fit my wife; then the Factory will release the Sport Tourer that I've been wanting.  Maybe it's a good thing that I'm broke!  | ||

I just got my 06 Ulysses. At 5'7" and a 30.5 inch inseam I struggle at stop signs, etc. I called Trackside Engineering's Ed Kwaterski at (262) 366-0591 and left a message, but didn't get a response. Dave, can you suggest ways to speed response from Mr. Kwaterski or suggest other lowering resources that don't compromise suspension geometry? You've got a great rep in the Buell community. I'm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, so I can't really jam up to Wisconsin to have the mods done. Looking for a kit or practical mod suggestions that Santa Fe HD/Buell could do. Basically parts numbers for the front fork and rear shock and any additional parts necessary to lower the bike about 1-1/2-2 inches. I understand from reading other posts about lowering the Uly on ADVRider and elsewhere that fork spacers will work in front plus install of Lightning springs in the rear. Am I correct? Can you re-use the Uly stock shock? Thank for your help. | ||

Irish, try installing a 2007 model year seat on your 2006. That made the difference for me (30 " inseam). | ||

I just put a XB12SS rear shock on complete, took 45 minutes start to finish. The shock free length is 1 " shorter than the Uly ( 13.5 vs 14.5 ) It lowered the rear approx 1 1/2 " installed. I used the XB12SS Rear shock adjustment guidelines and it's great, now the bike feels more like my old XB12s! I knocked 1" off the kick stand leg and used the 2nd inverted handlebar clamp to raise the bars and dropped the front forks 1 1/4 ". What a difference. At 5'7" with a 29" inseam the taller bike made me feel less confident at slow speed manuvering, not now! Given all he stuff is available from your Buell Dealer except mod of the kick stand, The shock is $335 complete ready to install, add $30 for the handlebar clamp and hardware. For less than $400 plus your time you can convert to a Uly Low! Thanks, Ed | ||

No modifications to the fork, just dropped them in the clamps and set to max adjustments for preload and compression. Thanks, Ed |
