I hate giving up title to the most western member, but yea you're in. I got your sticker, right here in my hand, so come and get it Vern's (etennuly) is in too. So, all you have to do is decide who's hosting the western BBQ G2 |

Can I be an honorary western outpost member? I guess we're now C3 and Company! Welcome to our little corner. Keep an eye on our Adventure Folder for upcoming events. IMS in January, Daytona in February and March Badness in March/April. Kristi

LargeFather, you are still the western most NC resident! Not really We have, or at least had, some online participation from some chick in/near Robbinsville. I believe some guy over that way too. How far are you from I-65/I-40 interchange? It's not a bad ride to that area. My oldest spent her first year of college in Nashville. I know a couple of those eastern guys that'll ride along -- they need no real reason to do it,,,just enough time off work and they'll be here. G2 |

I'm just a few miles from the terminus of 840 into I-65 south of town in Franklin. When we do our eastern runs, we usually meet at exit 239 on I-40 in Lebanon. Etennuly met us at that exit for our last east meets west (mostly west meets Etennuly) rally. I hope to get out your way soon. With winter coming, though, weird things happen crossing the plateau. I've seen 60 degree weather turn to a blizzard coming over the hill. I'm hoping for a mild winter. DW is still pitching cars in Franklin. |

The weather is always a crap shoot when it crosses the mountains, bounces off the mountains, etc, etc, etc. The only thing that makes it fun is watching the weatherman try to predict it That's a freaking haul -- 400 miles. We should meet at The Gap |

The last ride we did the Etennuly was 500 miles door to door. He rode west met us and peeled off when he was a few miles from home. We started west rode east and back. The gap would be fine. I'd like to hit some NC roads as well. The Gap is like the zoo. If you've seen one monkey throwing it's crap, you seen them all. I've found that there are roads as good as the Gap but without all the crowds. |

Check out some road called "The Doc Brown Highway" or something like that somewhere around Murphy. It's no highway but it's some kind of sweet!!!! |

NC/TN/VA/GA mountains have allot of good roads. US-421 east of Shady Valley TN is a lot of fun. During the Boone NC ride I was able to make four passes. The last pass I had learned the road plus had it for myself. I was able to set up for two turns at a time. It was too much fun holding basically one line through two curves and yet staying on my side of the road. The Snake has some attention but off season it is more of just the local riders and so no where near the crowds of the Dragon. If you like endless sweepers NC-28 out of the Tail of Dragon is awesome. The last time I was there Rubberdown, JLnance and I set a pace down NC-28 that was just awesome. No Brakes the whole way, just sweeper after sweeper like skier doing a slalom. Best mountain ride to date. |

We did 116 and 85 last trip out. As you know, they are VERY technical slow switchbacks made even uglier by mid fall slime, wet leaves, mud, and storm gravel. Challenging, but at the end, I pounded my shoulders down from my ear lobes with a ball peen hammer. I like sweepers better. I love the feeling of laying it over to the point you think it's going down and sling shotting out the other side. We ran Hwy 32, to me one of the best roads anywhere because it was one nice clean undulating sweeper after another. I liked the Skyway for that reason. Technical is great for really working yourself and the bike, but for my money, I love the sweepers. |

Buellbikr - Hello - Love the Shady Valley area. We did a ride out to Boone NC last October and had a blast riding around your area. There are several C3'ers on the western side of the state and those of us on the eastern side of the state look for every reason to get over to the mountains. Our next adventure to the mountains will be March Badness the last weekend of March. Check out the adventure page for details. |

Welcome to C3. Everyone is down in Suches GA for March Badness so it's kind of quiet in here at the moment. I think I ran 9 recently. It runs up into Montreat right? A very nice and twisty road. |
