OK, I just got a new pair of riding boots today and I need to lower my shifter toe peg because my boots are a little thicker than the last. My question is, is there a adjustment for this? I have already adjusted the rear brake pedal, no prob there. I'm looking at the toe shifter and I see the two lock nuts (above and below a cylinder), the pivot point eye loops are threaded as if they can be adjusted up or down inside the cylinder. I've tried that, but it does not feel right and will not move. Am I missing something, or? | ||

You may need to adjust the transmission arm. It slides on to a splined shaft and has a pinch bolt that also engages a detent in the shaft. Remove the pinch bolt and slide off the transmission arm. Rotate it maybe one notch then reinstall. Do your fine adjustments with the threaded adjuster. | ||

loosen both those nuts (one is reverse threaded) then turn the cylinder one way or the other to make the shift lever go up or down. Should be fairly easy to adjust. Then just tighten up the nuts and remember to test out the new position to make sure you can still ride. Sam | ||

I figured out what the problem was. Both of the locknuts were seized onto their threads. They would spin, but not move up or down for adjustment. Anyhow, ended up with stripped threads on one. Will need to order a new part tomorrow. No biggie, at least now I know. Thanks guys. | ||

Beachbuell I had the same problem with the threads. When you get the new parts, put a bit of anti-sieze on the threads. | ||

You really need to loctite the nuts and the bolts to the hollow tube. Otherwise, they'll come loose and completely come off. | ||

Just a drop of blue locktite, be sparing with it, or it will vibrate apart at the WORST possible time. | ||

The same day I adjusted mine and didn't locktight them because I wanted to make sure I was happy with the adjustment, IT happened!!! They had vibrated off and the adjusting sleeve went its own merry way. I limped home in 5th gear and had to make a new sleeve. USE THE LOCKTIGHT! |
