How did you space out the rear drive pulley so that you could remove the pulley cover? Bold move.....

Whats the hook looking thing for on the front brake resevoir?

Are you using a different primary case? There looks like a large chrome bolt head just above where the clutch cable screws into the primary cover.

How many miles do you have on the Vyper Strykes?

Swampy:

Used best quality hex head bolts which reach farther into the wheel bolt holes than the
OEM BUELLschitte "SCREWS" ...

That is a nice "U" bent in the OEM braded
brake line(my BLAST is a 2000 Model which is the only year that came with a braded line)
is get every thing to fit ...

The PRIMARY COVER is off a XB(just so happens to be off an XB9, but they are all the same except for colors)...

Not many miles on these tires as "i" just
got enough of PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS done so
"i" can ride it while finishing remaining
PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS ...

But did you space the pulley out?

When I tried that the belt ran off the outside of the pulley.

Swampy:

With hex nuts ...

Check your drive side bearing for getting loose in the wheel ...

Mine has started to get loose as it does the same thing as the TUBE FRAME BUELLs
when the drive belt is adjusted too tight ...

IMHO there is a belt tightness problem with the BLAST ...

Yeah,
I've already been through the rear wheel bearing thing. I have Jugallo94s spare rime sitting in the Big Kids room waiting for an excuse. LOL

So you used hex nuts...hence the longer bolts.
How about a close up on the nuts, rear pulley and where the belt rides?

Swampy:"But did you space the pulley out?

Thats important for people to know because that question does come up.
Personally I think the cover looks better than the naked sprocket. More importantly though (for the same reason I dont run an open primary) thats one big saw blade to cut through your leg (or your passengers) in an accident.

And please, I'm not putting down his mod, just stating personal preference and exposing the potential dangers of deleting the cover

Yup! The wife (I do have one), highsided the Yellow Blast when it had the Red plastic on it, she ended up with the axle pinning her ankle to the pavement. I'm sure it could have been worse without it.

It was on a river road, curvy, and I left her next to the bike as I went to get the truck, I was gone for about an hour and my wife bled to death and the mosquitos were licking up the blood on the roadway and I skidded on the mosquito bodies and ran over my dearly beloved as she sat on the shoulder crying.(Of course thats her story)

black is always nice. start with some jets and the superbike bars. I think those should be the first two things every blaster does

Hi NYTman, How many inches above your speedometer is the top of your new screen? I.e. From the top of the speedo to the top of the screen lip.
Are you finding it blocks as much wind as you'd like?

i will have to go measure it but it is approx twice the size of the stock fly screen. it really does block the wind and it is now comfortable to go 65-70 on the highway as there is no wind blast to deal with. overall i am very pleased with the fairing, i love the look it gives the bike and i love the amount of wind protection it gives me.

ok, i just ran out to the garage and measured it. from the top of the speedo to the top of the screen lip it is 9 1/2 inches. now you have to remember that i have the fairing tilted back towards the speedo pretty far. the plexi is almost touching the foam that is attached to the speedo that the original fly screen touched. there is an adjustment which lets you adjust the angle you want the screen at. if i had it standing up straight it would be higher yet above the speedometer but i prefer to have it tilted backwards as i like the way it looks better then when it was standing up straight. tilted back like i have it still gives me the wind protection i want while retaining the sporty look i like.

That looks awesome. By far, the best looking fairing on a Blast. Way better looking than stock, and much more functional too.

Hey NYT, How do you like the daytona bars now that it's been a few miles? How would you compare them to stock? 1/2 as high? Lower?

Thanks, <Jim

Mabueller: i really like the daytona bars compared to the stock bars. they are much much lower then stock. i wanted to try the superbike bars everyone recomends but they were a bit to low and put to much pressure on the wrist i broke in the spring. the daytona bars a just a bit higher then the superbike bars but reduce the pressure on my wrist quite a bit. i will measure the daytona bars compared to the stock bars latter on and let you know what the differance is.
