Eboos, so are you saying you would have been happy for all the Yamahas to pit, along with Rossi's mates so that he could have made a few places. Just stirring. I am happy to see Hayden win, I think he is a good guy, he is fairly consistant (if your call an average between 3rd and 4th place). Rossi is still a fair more talented rider physically and mentally, he has proven that years gone by. I would have liked to have seen the season with Caparossi in full fitness. It will be interesting for all next season. Will Rossi be in with a show, where will Hayden be? I believe Pedrosa will be a force to reckon if he can eliminate the few bad finishes he had this year, his average was only one place behind Nicky. Rossi showed good sportmanship, and also half the other riders wouldnt have hopped back on the bike, they would be rolling in the sand yelling abuse , but in all fairness, if Hayden didnt fall of on his own accord last week then he would have finished the season convincingly. Funny though how you guys think that its not fair if Rossi wins cause Hayden fell off, isnt that what happened last night. I also think Hayden took a major risk letting second place get out from him, rossi only had to make a few more positions (not achievable I know but hayden didnt know that) and say another DNF in the field and Hayden wouldnt of been able to do anything about it. Any way, I am sure this thread will die soon, congradulations Nicky, what a great season, better then the same old every other year, even my mrs was interested in the results each week. Its got to be great for the sport, dont know about the new bikes next year tho, but that another thread. 'It twas a veddy divy cul bartle and I try for my best, eh but the yama waz nota perfict for me and make miztake and well congradulations too Neeky see you next year'. |

Aussie, I'm sure Haydens pit board told him all he needed to know about where Rossi was throughout the race. He stayed in contact with Capriossi just-in-case for most of the race, but He also didn't want to throw it all away by pushing too hard either. It was a wise strategic move, but it looks kind of timid from some pundits point of view. Hayden fell off of his own accord last race?!? What race did you watch? Dani collected Nicky on his way down. Rossi had his own front wash out on him. No one took him down. Apples and oranges. IF someone had taken Rossi out I (and most other fans) would feel cheated. |

With Hayden in 3rd Rossi needed to finish 8th. That wasn't going to happen once Rossi binned it. I do believe Rossi again this season had a problem with the Yamaha this race. His last warm up they changed front tyre and still he wasn't on the pace. His race pace wasn't that hot even though after his crash he did get some fast laps in. They didn't last and that had to be something other than Rossi. It's a shame you guys don't get the BBC coverage. Charlie Cox and Steve Parish give an excellent commentary, and they damn near cover everything. Anyone that watched that race and didn't get excited missed a vital point about racing. For me what Hayden proved today was it is ok to win a world title by adding up the numbers from solid finishes. Why? Because today he beat Rossi down the track the second the lights went out. He raced a calculated 3rd place finish and I can't imagine that was easy after Rossi binned it. The stress of holding it together must have been truly immense. You only need look at his slowing down lap. At one point he had to give the bike to a marshal whilst he collapsed on the ground. Great race. Great win. Great finish to an astonishing season. And how refreshing to have a new face as world champ. Rocket |

Diablobrian, seriously i was only being a smart arse about Hayden going down by himself. You are spot on about the differences between Hayden and Rossi's crash. Yeah not sure about Hayden and his pit board, every time they showed it, it only said Rossi P13 etc etc, and how far behind he was, but not how far behind 12th place then 11th place, etc, do you get what I mean. if 12 11 10 and 9th were all close enough for Rossi to pass, Hayden would have been in real trouble, Thats was just the point I was making Makes no difference now, Hayden won fair and square. |

It's all good the people on here that know me know I'm the same person on the board and off. If I see a problem I call it, and if I'm wrong I'm not afraid to admit it. It's not personal, I'm trying to help The guy with the pit board would have been waving him to GO if Rossi had been close. The body language of the pit board holders can convey as much info as the board itself. Nothing personal Mate! It's all good. |

They went even further. They brought in a scenario where at one point Rossi was lapping at less than .50 slower than the fastest guy, so not far of the pace, and what could happen if say the Honda trio got tangled up with one another. Remember Melandri was still in the hunt for 3rd in the Championship so could have wanted to try catch Capirossi. That could have seen Pedrosa trying to keep him back to protect Hayden's 3rd place in the race. Stoner binned it in the end anyway, but the point was, so others could have, and allowed Rossi to close up. That race threw up so many possibilities it was unreal. If you'd have written a pre race script for what happened you'd have been laughed at by everyone. Rocket |

Congratulations to Nicky Hayden! I never thought he would do it, but he kept his head when, on the face of it, Rossi seemed to have lost his. Rossi obviusly had problems even before he crashed out, but that doesn't take anything away from Nicky Hayden and well done to him. Not to take anything away from Hayden, but man of the weekend just has to be Troy Bayliss for me. He has been off a MotoGP bike for over a year, and the Ducati for nearly two years, and has never ridden on Bridgestone tyres before this weekend. So to dominate the race like he did was an outstanding achievement, and one that will surely have Ducati bosses scratching their heads and wondering just what to do for next year now. Especially so after Stoner crashed out yet again in an unforced error (for the second time that day!). Now I can't wait until for next season to start |

Hayden's pit board did at some point announce to him "P3 OK." It was only then that he began to let the Ducatis stretch out a lead. Sean, You are so right about our race coverage here; it is very average and we only get 60 minutes, barely enough to fit in the race and interviews with the podium winners, sometimes not enouugh for that. SpeedTV can do better. |

Trojan man sez: "The engravers have got their Italian phrase book on the table ready for the trophy for a 5th straight time Now how do you spell 'The only ever 990 MotoGP champion' in Italian again?" If you look at the trophy carefully you'll just see the 'Ross...'scratched out and Hayden engraved over the top in a hurry |

are you guys fair dinkum?? do the trophies actually have the names engraved on em..(not neccesarilly falling for the Hayden engrave over Rossi) but i didnt know they had their names on it. I always wondered what would be the best tropht to get, you know the one they all want, i am sure some would be happy with any but there are some trophies that are a little ordinary looking as opposed to some of the really nice ones. Diablobrian, I always wonder how much of the pit board they get to take in anyway, it must take some training to read it at 250+ km/h. but i guess like you say, the board holder is well animated in different situations |
