I decided to ceramic coat my header after seeing it done here....can't remember who right now. Additionally, I decided to get some other bits powder coated as well. I ended up with the look I wanted, but was amazed to find how much cooler it made the ride. I actually feel heat on the left side, and almost nothing from the right! HPC for the ceramic coating, Sun Western for the powder coat.

That sure is nice. It's about time to black out the center chin guard piece. NUTS |

Looks good, Birdman, the controls/pegs are a nice touch. How heat-resistant is powdercoat, could it hold up on the Buell muffler? I'm thinking on refinishing my Drummer in that or black krinkle (if I can find a heat resistant compound). |

I don't like black bikes, but that one does look nice. The black headers really look good on there. Very nice, clean looking machine. Much more finished looking than original. I agree with Nuts on the center chin piece. That would finish your bike perfectly. Great job. |

No problem using the photo. The header is ceramic coated, not powder coated. Good to like 1600 degrees. I'm thinking that the CF front chin guard will make it on the bike somewhere in the future... |

Steal a XB9SX and get the black cam-case cover and black primary cover. Then get your wheels PC'd black, and the subframe... then maybe get the fork-uppers anodized black, then the lower fork-ends PC'd black... The orange ones would be hopelessly slow in comparison at that point. |

BTW how much to get the headers done? I'm still bouncing between HPC and JetHot. |

The header cost was $149.00. That is inside and out! Still can't believe the heat difference. (Gonna go do my ST1300 pipes now!) |

is it possible to remove the headers without rotating the engine |

No, and you need to rotate it fully. |

My wife gave me a gift certificate to Jet Hot to get the headers and muffler on my Uly coated for my birthday. For the entire exhaust, the price is $196.00. |

That is so sweet looking. And HPC East is about 15 miles from where I live...wonder how it would look with a stainless drummer? |

I've wondered about coating the muffler too. Since the coating is only on the outside in the case of the muffler, would the inside of the muffler overheat? |

Hi-Temp paint should work just fine on the Muffler. |

I wonder how that affects the emissions? I'll bet because of the heat that they are increased. |

Sweet looking bike Birdmanrh. The extra black really sets it off. Which seat is that in the bottom pic? |

Buelllightening, Nope, that is the problem, you cannot get the pipe off or on for that matter without the engine rotated. |

I have a question about the engine rotation.can you do it with the bike on the side stand or do you need an axle stand? I know a lift would be best but I cant see spending $500 + for a 1 or 2 time use. Thanks |

Not sure about the sidestand, I don't think it would work because of the way things twist once the engine is not attached to the frame. I used a Pit Bull stand on the rear with the through the axle spindles. It was kind of a process. When you go to loosen the axle to take the tension pulley off you will need to lower the bike and take the spindle off and the put it back together and raise it again. I used a jack to lower the engine and a jack stand to support the engine while waiting for the header to get back. The process sounds slightly involved because it sort or is, but I did it without a lift. (Message edited by BirdmanRH on October 19, 2006) |

Check with Dave S, that is where I got mine. He sold me a model with a non-spindle top and I ordered these to work with the spindles. http://www.pit-bull.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24_47&products_id=81&osCs id=9e08da7cc136ff54a08e8f4b6ec40d7f Check with him, he is a great guy and offers a fair price! |

Glenn, you can get them from DaveS, but I ordered them directly from a link off of this sight for frame sliders Larryboy, I have never had a problem with anything sticking to ceramic coated headers. |
