hi guys and gals , getting back into biking after 30 yrs away . got bitten last winter when an aquaintace said he had an old honda sabre for sale , finally unloaded it lol . yesterday bought a 2001 blast and really trying to love it . it has a v&h exhaust , not sure what other possible mods . been reading here alot . first off , GOD , i thought my friends sportster with straight pipes was loud !!! took it apart and found what was left of some packing along with actually a pretty good but minimal homedone baffeling . i did a lil more baffling today and it's almost tolerable . found a stock exaust picking it up tommorow cheap just out of curiousity . is there anything in between ? anything tunable sound wise or should i just continue my tweaking . my fav thing (early riser) is to go for a ride just as the sun is rising sunday mornings ;-P want nice throaty but mellow. ok next question . carb jetting and adjustment . i have a factory service manual and NOwhere in the carb section does it even show a mixture adj screw ? and where are you guys getting your jets/needles ? from buell ? mines definately running lean in the low end which sucks driving in traffic . ok will rant more later happy thumping |

find a White Brothers or use the header from the V&H and find a generic Supertrap can & graft the two together for a modern equivelant. After have used both types I can say with experience that a Disk outlet can is waaaaay quieter than a regular Glasspack can |

I got my jets at the local custom bike shop. Told them I had a cv carb, and what jets I wanted and they pulled them out and sold them to me. |

Word of warning about that tuneablity, the more disks the louder it is |

so i shouldn't buy and install like a thousand disks if i want it on the quiet side ? just kiddin bud ;-P personally looking for more in the low end , commutting in slow stop an go traffic and quieter . first gear on this bike seems to be really tall , chit i've been shifting to second at like 30 mph and then i'm bogging in the low rpms till things get nice again at about 40 , unforunately thats the speed range for my comute to work . maybe this weekend i'll drive a half hour to the nearest highway so i can check out third gear lol |

Go check out the carb section, there is tons of info there. Rejetting your carb will make a huge difference. |
