just curious if any body has ever tried this... is it even possible? Would it be more cost effective to get the crossroad clip-ons, which ones are harder to install? pictures of either on a lightning would be nice |

Drop a line over on the 3%er's thread. I did the majority of the fab'n for Stealthxb. See how his long-term comments add up. Looks good! |

I have been thinking about it too, I personal cant stand the way the crossroads look. they are too bulky and look like an after thought. The R triple looks like it came stock and I like that look a lot better. If any one has a R upper triple that they want to get rid of let me know |

I also have been thinking about this. I was wondering if the Hele bars would work instead of the stock bars. I would like just a little higher riding position than the stock Firebolt bars. Any thoughts. |

I have an upper triple tree from a 2003 Firebolt that's for sale. PM me if you want to buy it. I can send you a pic of it too. |

It's a great mod, but it requires some patience. Odie did a wonderful job with the metalwork but it was a process of trial-and-error. There are a few issues with the master cylinder, gauge cluster and the clutch cable that will arise but I can help you out if you have any questions. |

On the other hand................. Years ago, the clubman's bars were invented to give a clip on type riding position on English bikes that came with handlebars at a time when clip ons were relatively unusual. Here is a modern version, Tomaselli Adjustable Clubmans bars fitted to my Lightning. I have fitted risers so the bars are in about the same position as the Firebolt bars, but about 2" higher.
I believe that the bike handles better in the corners with these bars, but of course, they are a bit less comfortable than the stock Lightning bars. |
