You'll be very tired by the end of the day and it'll be a long ride home. I did that once. Keys, if you were worried about looking out of place, you wouldn't have bough the Buell. They certainly are head turners. My XB draws much more attention than my 6 (or any hardley going down the road for sure). Corinth stopped carrying Buells???? This SATurday at the ducati dealership in the middle of Dallas are the demo rides starting at 11:00. There will be talks regarding some bike that they are really excited about too. I guess their equivalent to our xbRR, maybe. I'm def going to go and see what's up. This SUNday at Cresson they will then be there. 150$ for track instruction. I'm not sure I'll go. There will reportedly be an XBRR racing at MSR next year campaigning in the CMRA endurance championship. The folks at Cycle Connection have already been testing at Hallet and are headed to compete at TWS this weekend. It's funny how some folks like to compare Buells on track to MW and HW repliracers. The bikes to which stock Buells deserve comparison on track are stock air-cooled Ducatis, SV650's and other LW class machines. Belittling stock Buell motorcycles for their on track performance versus repliracer machines in MW or HW classes is disingenuous, unless you are talking about the XBRR of course. The scenarios I mentioned are not contrived fantasy, they are honest to goodness factual history. If your XB was "twitchy and unstable" on the track, it like any bike exhibiting such undesirable behavior simply needs some suspension tuning. Next track day and race weekend at OHR is February 16-18 which starts off the 2007 season. We can certainly do an informal track day before then. I'm not belittling them. I see them for what they are and keep mine for what it is. Look, I blew mine up. But it created the spark to want to learn how to ride faster on the track. I had $10,000 (give or take) to spend on that purpose. So as apposed to going through the headache and heartache of trying to make my XB something that it's not (and potentially ruining what it is), I choose to jump on the bandwagon in hopes that I'd come to understand why all I see are yamahondasakis menacing the track. Well, as they say, I've seen the light. You say potato. I say potôto. But we both like fried okra! And for the record: I said "twitchy & unstable by comparison." Please consider, how would it sound if someone were to state that versus a Buell XB the R6 handling is ponderous and sluggish by comparison. You berated the XB for being "slower" out of the box. Well, you are comparing a LW class machine to a MW class machine and as I tried to point out, that is disingenuous. Like I said, it is funny that some folks like to do that. It makes no more sense than if someone were to state as though it was some great revelation that a an R6 is slower out of the box than an R1. To proclaim that they aren't a "fanatik", seems insulting to me. I don't understand why some folks feel the need to come here making derisive statements against Buell motorcycles. I agree, don't try to make Buell motorcycles into something they are not. Out of the box they are not MW repliracers. They are LW sport bikes. They are, for a lot of folks, extremely competent and reliable track bikes. My experience and that of plenty of others supports that. I'm truly sorry that you weren't able to share that positive experience. I'll never make the mistake of comparing one of my possessions with another of the same type for a given purpose. I'd hate to keep portraying myself as disingenuous like that. Now I think I'm going to try and discuss tearing up back canyon roads with M1. I'm sure it'll be just as fruitful. No one gave me crap for loving the Buell. 3 hours on a bike on someone else's dime? Can't beat it. The food and wine was great. Everyone local should go to the next one. I got to ride bikes I would normally never go near. S4 was first, then multistrada, and last monster 6??. The group ride was organized very well. I am very tempted to join those guys tomorrow for track day. S4 was right in the ballpark of the kinda motorcycle I can enjoy. Multistrada made me laugh alot. And my wife joined me on the monster. She went on and on about how the Buell was superior as passenger. Funny what you have to do to get your wife to appreciate what she already has. Definitely nice to get back on the Buell for the ride home. Switching from normal pattern back to GP shifting wan't that hard. I most felt the difference in the lack of any chain slap back to buell. But I did miss the easier clutch. I had to laugh when they told me that Duc has the best brakes out there and that you only needed one finger! Don't worry, I chose the right finger in response to that one. Some of you may know I just bought another bike, XB12R Black and Red. So, I'm out riding around the McKinney Airport just trying to put the break in mileage on it. Riding along I notice and think to myself, "Damn, this back break ain't workin worth a damn." I'm going to take it back to the dealer and have the check it out. I get the bike back to my drive way and I look down at the rear caliper and "Holy S@#$T the rear wheel is covered with oil" Can you guy's believe the swing arm cracked and was spraying oil on the rear wheel. There is a weld on the back of the swing arm that cracked open. Man, if I had been doggin it, I would have for sure wiped out. I wanted to this year but it would have been difficult for me with my Ulysses. Don't get me wrong, the Uly is an awesome bike but cornering is a challenge for me, maybe because it is much taller. But the 07 XB12R, I can't wait to get this bike on the track, and I hope you would be willing to let me chase you around. I really want to earn my license next year to race in the CMRA. I would feel more comfortable practicing on the track rather than shredding through the corners around the McKinney Airport. "Head -On Traffic" makes me a little nervous sometimes. Derek and I have accumulated enough goodies to be very comfortable track side. And there's more than enough room for another rider (or two or three). So please keep in touch as the season starts next year. Perhaps we can do some corner working together. It's a necessary task to complete in order to get your CMRA license. But what a pita. I'm hoping to do my first race at MSR in June. I should have my bike and brain ready by then. Hope to see you there and everyone else in this area too. +1 And FTR, I think you're making an excellent choice by taking your shred sessions to the track. Hopefully I will have my bike ready too. At least a full fairing and a nice exhaust kit. I will have to see other bikes before I attempt the safety wire anything. Maybe we can form a team or something, I know one thing, Buell needs to throw us a bone down here. They do not have any contingency award money for CMRA as of now but if we where to win and make some noise I'd bet they would. So they'll be handling the details getting the bike track ready: add some skins, paint'em, install the rest of the obvious crash protection items, and perhaps work on the suspension some. Contingency money? Maybe you. But I'm certainly not fast enough to win any races, yet. I'm just a track day guy who wants to compete in something again. I doubt that I will be fast enough either. This will be my first time to the track, but I'm going to give it HELL! If the bikes are evenly matched in the CMRA Classes there should'nt be a problem. I still have it and ride it to work on occasion. For your first time at the track, I'd suggest doing a RideSmart day. They seem more organized and have a better format & staff, imho. If so, let me know where you are getting parts, I have been doing research and found some reasonably priced skins, Fiberglass upper, lower, front fender and the tail piece for $650.00, un-painted of coarse. The kicker is the steering dampner, I can't find one for less than $400.00 anywhere. To me that's outrageous. But I am buying new race legal pegs, protective parts and I hope I have enough money left to put on the micron exhaust kit, all from Al at American Sportbike.   Dago Posted on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 10:22 am:        I think you're correct about having to go through LSTD for the CMRA cert. No, I don't think I'll be racing the XB. It sounds as though you're setting yours up about how I'd setup mine if I were. I can't wait to see it in action! I have an LSL steering damper. But I don't think I paid that much for it. I could be wrong though. Al's a great guy.
