"..I think DC Resource has the most unbiased digital camera reviews... " You sure got that right, Sam. I don't think I ever seen a better one for both explaining and demonstrating the features and controls. There are some great photos here, thanks folks. Jack |

I've found DP Review to be a good spot for digicam reviews as well. Well written and throughly tested: http://photo.askey.net/ Oh, and the best camera is the one you actually bring with you and take out and use Henrik |

I just bought this Rebel about 2 months ago. I have spent money on lenses though. The new I believe has not been released just yet not sure. Its not all that much better. Soon as you start spending the cash for different lenses and etc. |

- Sorry about the bad feelings regarding the comment "best camera out there." As in "if you have any self-respect you'll poo-poo what camera you already have and buy a Fuji." Not what I meant, my bad. Just like with m/c it's more about the person running the machine than the machine itself. If you want to get better as a photographer read your manual a few times and ask questions. Family photo below. Those rascals were acting bad and I had to keep telling them to move in closer. Drama queens! http://www.nicholasmccalip.com/DSCF0036.JPG from the left Mamiya 645 Medium Format - modified with rodenstock enlarger lens with a handcrafted bezel to give me infinity focus with full lens movements. "The hairy one" FUJI 680 Medium Format - the one that one me over. That's a 5000$+ camera set up. Ahh, the Buell. Not much substantial done with it - but I love it! Attached to Buell - some Nikon that I consider disposable. And some large format camera that is very lonely and dejected. I enjoy taking pictures like an amateur all the time. (Evidence above) And when someone asks me, as they always do, I will give them a definitive answer... Fuji s9000. For an amateur and for me professionally and recreationally quite perfect. SamIam knows what he's talking about too. Sony is great. It's getting harder now to find a bad digital camera. But (truth be told) I personally think dSLRs are archaic. If U don't believe that they are archaic then U are right. No need to convince me. I am already convinced that dSLRs are probably wonderful for those who use them. If you have a dSLR I have every confidence that you do love it. But if you're in the market and unless you need to change a lens to feel good about yourself or you are a professional and know that my opinion doesn't matter whatsoever, for me personally I like the point and shoots for your good old fashioned fun pics of bikes. No need to debate my points. You will find I will agree with anyone's personal preference. And my opinion is just what it is my measely opinion. More pics - I'll go savor my near death experience now. zen http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/233526.html?1160603318 - Edited to replace mongo huge over-sized pic with a link to mongo huge over-sized pic. I got a phone with a camera in it because they did not have one without a camera. I used it once. I realized that their intention is that you burn up all your minutes sending low quality photos to friends. Or to yourself because there is no other quick and easy way to get the photos off of the camera. I'd use in in sort of an emergency but that is it. What a lousy camera! (Nokia 6230, cheap, simple, tough, and easily pocketable, the "tuber" of cell phones). Jack |
