Was just poking around at buell.com and in the gallery page for the 9R is this :
it's only a drawing, and as such, nothing needs to be accurate, but everything is at a glance except - what the heck is this ?

That's where the oil cooler ended up. I don't think you are visualizing a radiator..... are you? |

That's a patent drawing. You can see it here: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6804954.pdf Oddly enough, item 32 is called out as the exhaust system, so evidently the line should be pointing just a little to the left of where it's actually pointing. I'd agree that the item in question is the oil cooler. The interesting thing is that this patent is for an exhaust system with unequal length headers. |

Most 2 into one headers for a v-twin are unequal length. "notice no pushrods?" You're just stirring the pot Dave . |

Evidently, it was also not intended to have foot pegs or rear brakes. |

didn't think of the oil cooler. the pic just struck me odd because no other preproduction or concept drawing I've see had that there that looked like that, as I can recall anyway. is probably nothing... |

32 = Intercooler. The turbo, not shown for clarity, is hidden inside 34 for a stock-appearing EPA-foolin' exhaust system. Obviously a 2008 Cali model. |

also, do you notice how low the headers exit the heads? I wonder what is up above them tucked up in the frame? Overhead cams perhaps? |

How about that ultra-extra-small-light-weight front caliper? |

Not to mention the counter-balancing that is so obviously evident in this improved model. Repeat after me... counter balance, counter balance, more power, counter balance. |
