I love what Dave does. But there is an issue. What happens when Dave leaves? It seems like all the strong Buell dealers are driven by an advocate in the dealership who is rarely in a key management or ownership position. We need dealerships where the management embraces the brand. Just my opinion. Dave is incredible on service and demonstrates what it takes to sell any brand of motorcycle honestly beside the Harley. I hope like Court says that Buell is taking a hard look at their dealers and what is required to carry the brand. I am not sure that moving to the European motorcycle shop is the answer like many seem to think. I do like the idea of repackaging the Vrod line as a Buell line and expanding the product base. I have heard that talked about. Just my thoughts. |

I agree that it would be far better to have management more involved in the Buell brand. I'm sure Dave (and Kandie) would be thrilled to own a franchise, but most dealers are playing into what the majority of their customers want, and that is "the life style". The fact the XBRRs sold so quickly could be taken as a sign of commitment, but I see it more as dealers trying to snatch up a potentially very profitable limited edition. On the good side though there are several dealers supporting road racing teams on Buells, but this is not always a sign of commitment in the showroom. Some dealers that field teams carry nothing with the Buell name on it other than the sign out front and the Rider's Edge Blasts hidden somewhere in the back. Of course they'll "be happy to order anything you want", and blame Buell for the delays wile they wait for the Buell order to grow "large enough to send in". I hope that Buell is taking a hard look at what is really happening, and covertly visiting the dealerships instead of relying on what the dealers tell them. Something drastic needs to be done...SOON! Owner satisfaction is being impacted by the lack of dealer support. As the number of dealerships has decreased it has not led to an improvement in the dealerships that are left, in fact many have gotten worse since you can no longer go a mile or two down the road to the next dealer to get your parts etc. They treat the Buell owners the same way they did H-D customers in the 80s when there was more demand than supply. The difference is many Buell owners are not that devoted and will buy another brand instead of dealing with that kind of treatment. All is not lost however, Appleton, Stone Mountain, Liberty, Cycle Connection, etc. are some very bright spots, and should definitely be looked to for examples of how to do it right! I hope that the impending changes happen before the brand loses the faith of too many customers and potential customers. Word of mouth can be your best friend, or worst enemy. A disgruntled ex-owner can do an amazing amount of damage to a brand's credibility. So can poor dealer support. Enough of my rambling, hopefully BMC already knows all of this and they shouldn't need my suggestions. It just needs to happen faster. |

Got it, sorry I sent you the wrong shirt! I went back to your post and you did clearly say the "black" shirt. My mistake. I'll make it right with you. Let me know what you want to do. |

Nice pics' Dave, and looks like you've got some serious Buell/parts in stock. If I'm ever within 100 miles of the store I'll be stopping by. Keep up the good work. |
