I just got a new clutch cable from Daves, and when I looked closely, it has a clear plastic sleeve around the cable, except for about the last inch on each end. This is inside of the housing, looks like there is no actual contact with the housing. Is this something new for the 07s? Does this eliminate the need for routine cable lubing? I haven't put it on yet, so I don't know if it feels any different. I just bought one for a spare from the local dealer about a year ago that doesn't have this. I had to buy this one because the lever end just about came off my old cable. I felt it go out of adjustment about 30 miles from home, but it lasted long enough to get back to the garage. When I looked, there were only 2 strands of the cable left connected to the barrel at the lever. Must be all those years of clean living. I think this was the original cable that came with the bike new. It probably has about 13K of the 17K on the bike. I keep my spare lubed, hanging on the wall, ready to swap out. |

Pretty sharp, huh. A buddy of mine, machinist instructor at the local community college, had that idea. We made it out of an old piece of plate, looked kinda shabby. Its all cnc, he programmed a little engine turning. I had to get the translucid cover just so I could look at it. He did the 1" extensions for the rider peg brackets, too. Check out the different view of it. |

I use Third Eye bar end mirror that I bought at a bicycle store. It was very inexpensive, and it works very well. I find it vibrates less than the stock bars, and because of the fact that it is further outboard, gives a better view astern. |
