I had heard that the original D207 that came on the 03 XB's was actually a 190. The 207 that was on my bike was a 180/55/17. When I replaced them with the 208's, I put the same size back on it. The tire appears to be narrower. Now that the 208 is about toast, I am going to replace them with the new Sportec M3's. So, I guess my question is, which size is really the correct size? I tried looking in the KV, but to no avail. Or, I'm just too damned lazy to continue typing in new key words. Not looking for a tire brand argument, I know what I'm putting on the bike. Just wanted some insight from you guys (or gals) that have switched over with success to the 190, or that I have my stories messed up. Thanks Rich |

I had heard that the original D207 that came on the 03 XB's was actually a 190 I've had mine since June of 2002. It came with a 180/55 ZR17 with a Dunlop D207U. IIRC the discontinued 207U was about 3 pounds lighter than the regular 207. |

Evil_twin: There is nothing wrong with switching to a 190. It will give you a slightly larger contact patch to work with. We used 190's for racing. |

Does anyone know if a 190/55 will fit on a stock firebolt? How about the clearance to the swingarm in front and the beltguard? |

BAds1, So you are running the 120 70 up front and the 190 50 on the rear is this new for you ,If so how do you find the 190 compare to the 180 out back? And anyone else that has tried this chime in here with your findings? Thanks... |

Baby you will have clearance issues with the 55. Hogs yep running the 120/70 up front and as far as comparison..... feels good no problems at all. Doesn't slow the handling in any way. |

Thanks BAds1, I may try this myself , just about time for a new skin on the back, Just thought maybe the turn in quickest might suffer or something else, Not that I am a Kneedragger anyways, Just had my 52 B-Day but still as young as any 22 out there LoL... |

Yeah, I noticed the same thing. I actually found measurements somewhere on line. My Shinko 18/55/17 is 7 inches across, my D208 was 7.43 inches across...The Shinko 190/}50/17 was also 7.4 inches across as well as the same 29 inches tall. NEXT time I'll be mounting a 190. The key is to know the widest you can mount with a belt drive is 7.5 or so then you are on the belt. |
