Just curious if anyone has installed this piece on their Lightnings? If so, could you post a photo? Thanks! http://tinyurl.com/lsba9

looks to be either an Ilmberger piece or a direct copy of one. We do these and have fitted a couple to customer bikes. IF it is the Ilmberger product then you will not find a better made piece of carbon anywhere and fit will be perfect!

If is is a copy then who knows? Ask them who makes the parts.

Personally I would steer clear of blatant rip off copies just out of principle.

Are the blinkers in the original positions? Curious, because if they are any farther forward they will interfere with my soft saddlebags on those occasions I use them. I can't tell from the photo (and those don't look like stock directionals either).

The ones fitted in the picture are the Kellerman micro indicators Jamie. I'm not sure if they are in the stock position but they are directly in line with the rear light unit if that helps.

Cheers

Matt

I wrote the seller, and he confirmed it is, in fact, an Ilmberger piece. Thanks for the heads up!

That looks good, subtle change from stock. I wonder if it comes in any other materials?

These are only made in pre-preg carbon by Ilmberger, as they don't use any other material.

That's too bad. I'm not a big fan of the carbon fiber look.

Can it be painted to match the seat support?

Of course it can be painted. Every MotoGP bike out there is ALL carbon fiber, yet they're all painted team colors so you don't have a bunch of grayish black motorcycles with only number plates to distinguish 'em. I like the look of carbon fiber, and if I spent that kind of money for the piece no way in hell am I gonna cover it up so nobody knows what it is! That'd be like getting chrome wheels and painting them silver (or whatever)...

CF that is painted with a transparent color can look really neat.

You could find someone to spray some matching clear-silver on it, that would be sweet!

It does, doesn't it? Dang... I need a huge influx of cash somehow. Not easy when you're unemployed. Better start buying those lottery tickets, I guess...

I wouldn't know, I've never watched a MotoGP race...

I'm glad you like the carbon fiber look, but I don't, so if I wanted to cover it up, then that would be my prerogative now wouldn't it? I don't typically like anything flashy or visually attention getting.

If the rims I liked only came in chrome, but I didn't want chrome, then I would have no qualms about having them stripped and then anodized.

To each his own.

Phantom5oh, i'm with you, CF is a little too flashy for my tastes as well... FYI, i painted my CF tail by sanding it a bit, layed down some rattle can primer and semi-flat black... over a year without a nic or flake without a rear fender. pretty easy stuff to paint if you want to. you still get the benefit of an ultra-light part.

i'm hoping to save up for some CF frame protectors but i'm going to paint them frame gray to match. curious if i'll wear through the paint gripping the tank.
