I just did the brakes and rear master cylinder. Nothing else I swear. When I pulled the bike off of the peg style lift I noticed the belt is rubbing. Sounds like trany side not wheel side. What could I have done. I didn't touch the wheel beside replacing the brakes front and rear.

Do you get any idea from the sound of how much or how hard it's rubbing? I usually get a bit of a squeak when I push the S2 around, which I don't worry about.

Try and measure the distance from the center of the swingarm pivot to the center of the rear axle on both sides. The distance should be the same on both sides - if not align the wheel so it is.

You could see if you can get a long straight-edge along both pulleys and make sure everything is properly aligned.

12000 Miles and i've got a lose belt on my XB anyone can help me on that? Either the front pulley tension or a lime belt?in both case i'll end up soon with a broken belt.I was thinking of triplex chain conversion like the RR don't know about that but sure don't want that mess anymore!however it's he first time it happens,so i can put it on bad luck!if anyone can give me any clue!i'll be glad to here from you...take it easy guys and ride safe.

Maybe recheck axle torque spec and front pulley torque spec.

I'd change the belt and make sure the axle has sufficient anti-seize on it. Use the torque procedure in the manual (tighten, loosen, tighten to spec)

My dealership is telling me that the belt has been mishandled the last time that i had my rear tire changed, and they won't take the belt under garantee.This is my second XB i bought it brand new in august 2005 from my dealership and feel like being screwed....Do you think that mishandling the belt when you change your rear tire can cause the belt not tracking properly? I would think it'll break instead.

I honestly don't know the characteristics of the belt after it is twisted
(mishandled). Others may have experience with this. I cannot see
how that would cause the belt not to track correctly though. I'd suspect a
misaligned muffler, front pulley or rear wheel torque.

leave that belt alone and don't twist it when you have your tire changed cause it will cost you a brand new belt guarantee i've been there done that!!!!
