The tip on my V&H Muffler is loose and is leaking around the outside. Any tips for any easy fix? |

Throw it away. V&H are notorious (in my neck of the woods) for failure. I've had two fail. |

Take it apart and find out why it's loose. V&H's need to be repacked at regular intervals to stay together. I've had mine for over 25,000 miles with no problems (yet). I've seen a relatively new one shake apart, though. |

If it's the tip that is loose, you need to spot weld it. I lost the tip off my S2 muffler this summer. I should have taken the time to weld it.... Brad |

I'm with Sloppy I had horrible luck with V&Hs. The Supertrapp held up much better. You guys with V&H don't know loud, the D&D that came with my raceheader is evil. |

I don't want evil loud, but let your freak flag fly, brother. My freshly packed V&H is really too loud for my taste. I'm not sure how the exhaust tip of a V&H is held on. I think the steel outlet is held onto the aluminum endcap with the three fasteners that attach the perforated core to the endcap. Take it apart and see. I never had a problem with my SS2R in 25,000 miles. I'm still using the original front exhaust hanger, too, not the Y-bracket. I liked the V&H so much, I modified it so I could use it with the race kit header. |

You have to drill out the rivets at the rear of the muffler. If you get a repack kit from American Sport Bike, it'll come with replacement rivets. |

Here is a tech tip with pics. I didn't have to drill any rivets; my SS2R has 4 buttonhead screws holding the end cap on and another 3 sockethead screws holding the inner baffle together. I used blue loctite on all screws, repacked, and everything's fine. I find the SS2R to be all-around excellent. |
