I hate to post about the same issue in two different areas, so for that I apologize. However, I hope that someone who doesn't look at the "old school buell" area might see this here and be able to help. Please check my profile for description of my issues - Its highlighted in red. Or check the 2001 S3T burbling with throttle closed thread in the Old School Buell area. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. Specifically I'd like to know if the o2 sensor is a good candidate and or the procedure for testing it. I have a multimeter, but I've never really used it. Nick |

I'd replace the exhaust flange gaskets if it were mine and go with the softer kind (Screaming Eagle, I think). I would think that any leak at that point would make for an erratic O2 sensor operation. If the exhaust is making a slight popping noise on deceleration, most likely air is getting in where it shouldn't, whether it's from bad intake manifold seals or exh gaskets. |

This RTV that you used, did it say "sensor safe" on the package? If you don't have one already, get a shop manual. Are there any other Buell-friendly dealerships in your area? There should be no surging, bucking or weird idle adjustments required on your bike. |

I didn't know to look for "sensor safe". I'll check the package tonight. Are there any good Buell dealerships anywhere? My dealership is friendly, they're just apparantly inept. Of course, I've felt that way about every car dealer I've ever done business with as well. There is a BWB member who works at St. Paul HD/Buell, but thats over 100 miles away. I doubt I'd see any better service there. Are there any mechanics anymore who actually diagnose a problem? Seems like all these "techs" do is throw parts at it until you either give up or by some fluke they accidentally fix it - which irritates them because then they can't steal anymore of your money. |
