I got back from my Labor Day weekend run to do the Dragon (US 129) in TN/NC. Here is my report: http://www.dustyjacket.com/dragon/index.html I need to swap that Sportster for a Ulysses with some bags. As comfortable as it is in the long haul, it just wouldn't lean far enough without scraping footpegs, mufflers, the kickstand clamp, or the saddlebags. I saw a few Buells there: a tuber, a firebolt, and a Blast, and possibly a lightning or two. (Message edited by DustyJacket on September 08, 2006) |

Bill, I was just there on August 27th riding around the mountain....amazing hardly descibes it. I would guess the most dangerous place for a motorcycle in America. Glad you came out of it in one piece. There are some pictures on www.killboy.com of the wine barrel and the accident you were talking about. none of you. one is a SV but can't tell if it's Pete. COOL! |

Yup. Pictures and even videos cannot convey what it is like. I never thought I could have so much fun at such a low speed. I could have done better if I had a different bike, I guess. I guess you left as I arrived. Actually, there are a few pics of me on killboy.com, mostly from Sunday 9/3, under cruisers. There should also be some from Saturday, and maybe even one from Friday night. I've been trying to buy some, but the thumbnails don't come up for me, and the shopping cart doesn't work. I E-mailed him, but have received no response. Pete is easy to tell as he has a white helmet and had his tail trunk on the whole time. |

Eric-Remember our conversation about a liquid cooled engine for the Buells, take a look at the new October motor cyclist magazine. They have an article based on someone seeing something that wasn't supposed to be seen at the proving grounds in Arizona, a liquid cooled 1200 sportster, when they asked Erik Buell about it he side stepped the question in typical Harley fashion, your wish may be coming true. I have the article here if you want to stop by and read it on your way home. Later. |

September 20, 2006 Buell XBRR Takes Dramatic Debut Win in France Michel Amalric triumphs at prestigious Bol d’Or race meeting Creteil Cedex, France (Sept. 19, 2006) - France’s Michel Amalric, racing his Macadam Moto sponsored Buell XBRR, secured a dramatic win at the famous Magny-Cours circuit last weekend. In only his second competitive outing on the Buell XBRR, Amalric beat the challenge of a 39-strong field in the Pro-Twin Final and took the checkered flag 1.14 seconds ahead of Alain Cottard’s Aprilia RSV 1000 and 3.94 seconds ahead of Stephane Molinier’s third-place Ducati 999. Amalric’s stirring performance for the Macadam Moto team (the official Buell dealership in Marseilles) proved to be even more impressive when the news emerged that the race at Magny-Cours was mainly being used as preparation for the 2007 Pro-Twin championship season. “The Macadam Moto team had decided to use this last race of the 2006 season as an opportunity to get some quality racing experience under their belts in preparation for a full race program in 2007,” said Jean-Luc Mars, managing director of Buell France. “Michel also overcame the additional problem of qualifying on a wet surface and then the final took place on a dry track. Due to tight time constraints, as well as the newness of this team, he simply had not been able to get any practice in on dry conditions,” Mars added. The Buell XBRR’s performance proved to be a superb testament for the limited-edition production racing motorcycle (which is based on the highly-acclaimed Buell Firebolt XB12R) as more than 70,000 motorcycle racing enthusiasts converged on Magny-Cours over the course of the weekend. The climax of this celebrated race meeting is the 24 hour Bol d’Or (Gold Cup) race which is held on the Magny-Cours Formula 1 track and is one of motorcycling racing’s hardest endurance races. Although this was only the Moto Macadam Buell XBRR’s second competitive race in France, the team was quietly confident that they might be able to spring a surprise after Amalric finished a creditable fifth in their debut race at Ledenon in August. Buell’s European marketing director John Lewis commented: “We’re delighted that Erik Buell’s vision of offering private racers with a professional-level, race-ready, production-based racing motorcycle is now succeeding so well here in Europe. The Moto Macadam team has certainly underlined the real potential of the XBRR in just their second outing and we’re really looking forward to seeing what they can achieve next season.” Race Results – ‘Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours’ – Pro Twin Final Top ten finishers 10 lap race 1. Michel Almaric – Buell XBRR 2. Alain Cottard – Aprilia RSV 1000 3. Stephane Molinier – Ducati 999 4. Fabienne Migout – Ducati 998 5. Frederic Bottoglieri - Aprilia RSV 1000 6. Jeremie Rasting - Ducati 998 7. Jean-Yves Bonnet – Ducati 998 8. Didier Dalet – Ducati 998 9. Jose Lattuada – Ducati 998 10. Aurelien Bantigny – Ducati 999 The Buell XBRR is a limited-edition production racing motorcycle based on the Firebolt XB12R, which is reworked at the factory into the XBRR for use in closed-course competition. It offers private racers a professional-level, race-ready, production-based platform. Buell Motorcycle Company, a subsidiary of Harley-Davidson, Inc., produces sport motorcycles, motorcycle parts, accessories and apparel. Yes I still have it, I would have a hard time parting with that bike I have had it since its birth, I have wanted a Screeming Eagle Vrod even before I rode one over a year ago in Sturgis. |

And now a serious question for anyone that might know: Why is it that after my fork oil was changed at the dealer, I have noticed that my forks bottom out on bumps and heavy braking???????? I have checked all of the available adjustments and they are set exactly as before, and I can see no evidence of leaking. |

Why is it that after my fork oil was changed at the dealer, I have noticed that my forks bottom out on bumps and heavy braking???????? After a fork oil change it shouldnt be doing that, thats a no brainer .You might be able to contact Buell direct and get an answer.Sounds like maybe there isnt enough oil in them?Just a guess at this point, hope you find out whats up.Or a simpler solution would be..1)AVOID I repeat AVOID all bumps and 2) Avoid all HEAVY braking while riding. |
