Check the 'Thumper Forum' it is dedicated to the Blast, and you will find what you need. |

etc...? I was very disappointed in etc. Over priced, and I only gained x HP & x ft/lbs of torque. |

3 hp, maybe. You won't even notice it on the top end, but the bike will have somewhat better useable power at midrange. If the bike doesn't have enough power for you now, It never will. The Blast is a great bike, if you love it and want it to look cooler, and sound better/louder, go ahead and buy a new exhaust and enjoy it. But, it's not going to make a big difference in terms of HP. You can overbore it with a 600cc kit, go to a hi-comp piston and everything else under the sun - but you'll spend as much as the bike cost in the first place to do it, and you'll still have a cheapo suspension that can't be adjusted at all. Its a great commuter. In stock form, its stone cold relaiable and can take a beating. If you mess with the intake, you'll lose alot of reliability and not gain anything. Change the exhaust, and you're illegally loud and only have 3hp to show for it. I loved my blast, and I had a LOT of fun with it. It is what it is. Trying to make it into something else will dissappoint you if your expectations are too high. The only reason I got rid of mine was because I only have room for 1 bike, and my needs changed such that I needed it to be able to pull 2-up touring duty. The Blast just wasn't designed for that. As was suggested, you should direct all your questions to the Thumper Forum. |

Thanks all for the patience with my questions and misplacement of them at times. your response -naustin- answered my question as to if the mods are really worth it (not... IMO). i'm using the blast for commuting and didn't really expect a lot out of it, but wanted numbers (which i did look for on this site and couldn't find) to see if mods were worth it. Thanks to all for all the help, the site is great. |

Other than the pipe and jets, maybe some freer breathing, there's not a lot you can do to a Blast. I have done all that and am thinking now of putting the stock pipe back on. The minor gains aren't worth the noise IMO. And they are minor gains and like Naustin stated above, that certainly doesn't help the Lame-O handling. It's still a great bike and as a commuter/girlfriend bike, it's awesome. |

You know it depends how far you go with it and how much money and time your willing to spend on it. Suspensions are the easiest thing to modify, yet are usually the last because the pieces sufice for most. The motor can actually be doubled in hp if you do the initial investment of a couple grand and then the time to dial it in - lol - inexpensive engine mods can also up the gain quite a bit for those who are handy - obviously no one reads the info in the KV that I've gathered - or they would know that 6 to 8 hundred bucks could get you into 10 hp gain pretty easily and that a little over 200 to 400 dollars invested in suspension would definately improve the bikes riding ability. The only problem I've had on this board is that people want the answer handed to them instead of reading for it - almost every question I've ever asked has been a good stumper for that very reason - usually no one else has written about the topic. A good example is my current question in the regular KV and Thumper KV. There is no reference in the manual for the question - so I figure it may be a bit before I get an answer - lol - properly tuning the bike in stock form will net you 3 hp as Nallin, Aaron, and others have shown - doing a little advanced carb tweeking can help as well. There is much in the Thumper section that is ignored, and thus the above answers - sigh - and the suspension isn't as bad as you would paint it, I've gone to the inside of too many bikes to believe it is, and I'm definately no Rossi - lol Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

The site can be cumbersome at times and it would help for this info to be in the new rider FAQ (in the section with the mods) or some where else more easily obtainable. |
