I'm a sorta kinda maybe up for the ride up tonight. Gotta fix an intake leak on the S2 and re-time one of the Blasts. Then I gotta figure out if I'm gonna poke my way up the hill on the break-in Blast or bring my S2. Or stay home & be a bump on the log..... -Saro |

Fingers crossed, I'll be heading out from work (Culver City) around 4pm - ride home to Long Beach, swap bikes, then ride through traffic back up to the Shell station in La Canada. I may make it by 6pm, but if I'm not there by 6:15, head up without me and I'll see you at Newcomb's. Cheers -Jack |

This coming Saturday 8/19 is the gathering at Jerry Johnson's place in Oceanside to watch the Laguna Seca Formula Extreme and MotoGP races. All of us up at Laguna saw only bits and pieces of the races, it's nice to see the whole thing (even if you know how it ends!). Jerry provided this info: 5 p.m. Aug. 19th 1070 Manteca Dr, Oceanside, 92057 Drinks & Food provided Watch race videos and play some pool or darts... Let Jerry know if you want to stay over till Sunday 760-214-3217 Thanks, JJ Here's a Google map: link: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=1070+Manteca+Dr,+Oceanside,+92057&ie=UTF 8&ll=33.271704,-117.30051&spn=0.036096,0.091238&om=1 We decided the next months ride will be the Silverwood Lake/Big Bear/Idyllwild loop. It's a long but nice ride with lots of terrain and twisties. General plan is to meet at the Starbucks at the Ontario Mills Mall (I'll send a link later, I bet there's 20 Starbucks there) fairly early, jump up 15 to 138, take 138 to 18 to 38 , around Big Bear lake, loop down through Banning, then up 243 through Idylwild, and then drop down 79 to split up to home destinations. Its a long ride, but a good one, so get those tires and oil changed as necessary. Normally it would be the first sunday of the month (9/2)), but we're doing the 2nd Sunday (9/10) because of Labor day. I'll send out some more details the week before, but clear your calendar. The annual American Sport Bike BBQ is in October 14th this year, not the end of August as in previous years. And it's going to be in Buellton (just north of Santa Barbara) so that we can get both Socal and Bay area Buellers. See http://www.americansportbike.com/2006_BBQ.htm for details, and follow the link there to RSVP is you're coming. There will be further announcements for group rides to and from there. Al |

Hey all, Next month is the Toyota 200 at Willow Springs Raceway. Richest purse ($250,000!!) of any race in the USA except for the MotoGP. I picked up extra tix and have 3 left for $10 each. Tix are $30 at the gate. Regardless, if you haven't seen the TOP riders in the USA going at it, you MUST be there. It's a solo race (no rider changes allowed) - and always a challenge to see pitting strategies (higher lap speeds, more tire changes, fuel... all that) Lemme know on the tix. We're pitting again for Scott Jensen (AMA 61) |

From an email I received. I expect to be there I hope you all will too! Greetings from American Sport Bike!! Once per year, we sponsor a BBQ party to thank all our customers for their continued support. For the past few years, the BBQ has been held on a Sunday at the end of August right here at the shop in Vista, California. It has been well attended and is one of the largest gathering of Buell owners in the country. But it has been difficult for those further away from Southern California to get to on a Sunday and still get home. So we're doing it a little different this year. This years gathering will be in Buellton, California (where else?) on a Saturday instead of Sunday, and in October instead of August, which should make it easier for folks from further away to attend. We'll still have a great BBQ, some nice pre-BBQ rides in the California coastal ranges, some very cool raffle prizes from many of our great suppliers. The BBQ is happening Saturday October 14th, with many riders arriving Friday the 13th, and leaving Sunday the 16th. Group rides to and from the event are being planned. We have a bunch of hotel rooms blocked out. You can find all the RSVP details Here and Here. Please RSVP if you're coming so we can make sure there is enough rooms and food. Thanks, Al & Joanne of American Sport Bike Info at http://www.americansportbike.com |

We checked on that when we set up the date, and was told back when we picked the date that the Willow springs weekend was the one before that. AFM is the weekend after. Oh well, too late to change it now. Sorry about that. Al |

No problem, Al. Willow Springs is the 3rd Sunday of every month, not the 3rd weekend. October is one of those odd months where October 1st is a Sunday - meaning race day is the 15th. |

Not when I'm in the presence of some really fine people! I think Maria was sharing some pics of her sweet little granddaughter with Lynette and me. Not sure who that guy is behind us, but I think he has a brother who likes to play practical jokes too (no wonder Zach gets along with him so well - kind of a big kid thing...) Jerry, Lynette, Mack and Kristen - THANK YOU - it was so nice to see Scott, Tat and Maria, and others that I missed at Laguna Seca this year. Next year, I'm going!!! |

This map shows the ride from the 15/138 Intersection to the Intersection of the 18 and the 138.This is a MADHOUSE Intersection! At this stop sign turn left onto the 18 and pull over to collect the crew.We will then procede towards the intersection of the 330 and the 18.We will pull over just pass this.Follow the sign towards "Big Bear" until you see us.It was this stretch that we fixed a flat last time.Could be foggy or smoky.... http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&z=11&ll=34.231106,-117.294159&spn=0.275903,0.462 799&om=1 |

This map shows the route all the way through Big Bear to the 38 and then down the hill to Yucaipa and the 10 freeway. This year we will skip the side road , blast down that intolerably hot stretch through Beaumont to the 243 and up Black Mountain to Idylwild. We will stop in Yucaipa and gas up.Next stop will be Idylwild for Lunch....barring any issues beforehand. http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&z=10&ll=34.103845,-117.05658&spn=0.552637,0.9255 98&om=1 |
