>>>So when and where are you hooking up with the rest of us malcontents? Funny you should say that. . . I've actually posted a map over my desk with your locations and dates. You will get, at one time, within about 286 miles of me. I'd love to but what do you think they'd do if I showed up on a BMW or a Hayabsua? I'd be banned for life! |

Ripcord- As far as I know the get-together is a "guys night", I don't know of anyone who is bringing their wife or girlfriend...Storm doesn't look too bad, hope you stay safe and dry... FB2 |

So Nashville for the night. Definitely a bit wetter in all respects. JB2, sounds like the plan is still as in my email but will give it a wait and see, thanks for the addy. Court, 258 miles???? Geez, like you couldn't be there in an hour? and how many times do ya think Ferris has been slant eyed in the last coupla years. It's ALL good. |

Got a new rear Scorpion sync mounted rear wheel put back on, adjusted primary tension, replaced primary fluid, adjusted clutch, replaced front pads, blead front brakes, cleaned up brake fluid mess, all between 9 pm and 11. This 9sx kicks ass in terms of maintainability. I could not have done half that stuff on my cyclone in 2 hours... I would still be out there now trying to figure out how to twist that front caliper *just*so* to get it off the rotor and get the pads installed... and I would be up there with a butter knife risking the wrath of the wife trying to get that primary drain plug threaded back in without removing the exhaust... and the Cyclone was *far* better then my old yamaha... This 9sx just runs and runs and runs, and everything I do to it is easy. (although I am avoiding replacing the spark plugs, which would have been a 5 minute job on the Cyclone...) I am getting very excited about my first Buell event road trip! Court, does Knoxville on Sunday night fall any closer then 268 miles? |

Oldog, just off the phone with Ferris - he was wondering if there was any news from you. How ya doin? Watching the radar, looks like you, Henrik, JB2, Reepicheep will catch more of Ernesto than Ferris and Gentleman Jim will catch (they coming in behind it). Be safe. |

I might actually escape Ernesto... barely. Hopefully by the kick-off party on Monday evening the only thing we'll be dealing with is good weather. Fingers crossed. Reepicheep, I worked my best voodoo on Court and couldn't get him there. He knows he'd have a great time but he's got this "saving New York" mission going on and Gotham City can't live without him. |

... all between 9 pm and 11. Show-off... If I could leave the city *now* I'd probably be able to run ahead of Ernesto. As it is I still have some electrical, brake bleeding, bodywork and packing to do. I also need to get the bike inspected before I head out, so realistically tomorrow afternoon/evening will be the earliest I can head out. At that point however, I may be better off just waiting out the storm and head out early Sunday morning. I'll post as the picture gets clearer - bike and weather both Henrik |

Finally booked / confirmed all reservations... it's for real now. If I don't go, I loose money I am staying at a cheap (probably scary) motel 8 north of Knoxville on Sunday night. I also checked out the Franklin Inn for the first time, and confirmed reservations... that place looks REALLY nice, and the price is outstanding. Good work Jim! Now I gotta figure out what and how to pack... and decide if I want to bring a laptop. Luggage space is a precious commodity on a 9s... |

Oldog, Thanks for the update - Ferris just asked two minutes ago again if there were any news from you and I had not been here - will let me know in the a.m. that it's still a go for you. He and Gentleman Jim are sitting at the entrance to Fort Jackson with Wade's escort on the way after a "humongous gruelling day on 40 - avoid Ashville NC like your life depends on it!!!" He wishes eveyone a safe ride and looking forward to seeing/meeting you all. Be safe! |

Not going to make it to the kick-off party, bummer. To many things on the honey-do list. Ya'll ride safe, the weather is going to be questionable beginning next week. Still gonna try to catch up somewhere on your ride though. Note-BRP when you get close to the 218 JCT they DETOUR you off the BRP onto 218. VERY TIGHT ans VERY FUN, but it goes through a lot of housing area's, so traffic may slow you down a bit. JIM |

The bike now runs, the electrical is done and seems to be working. Still need bodywork, final control adjustments and brake bleeding. I also need to swing by a dealer tomorrow for an inspection. Then a final oil change, packing and I'm ready to go. Depending on what time that ends up being tomorrow, as well as how the weather behaves, I may head out tomorrow afternoon/evening just to get a head start and so I won't have to deal with city traffic Sunday morning. If I can't get going until Sunday I won't be in Franklin until later Monday. I think there's about 900 miles from NYC to Franklin. I'll try to post the final outcome. Henrik |

I'll be leaving tomorrow after church and lunch. Current storm projections lead me to believe that people waiting until Sunday to leave, especially later sunday, won't have a problem. It did keep me from catching any catfish last night. I had to just sit there in a comfortable boat (neighbors) drinking beer and smoking cigars instead. Poor me.

Henrik: Might be prudent to delay departure until morning. We're still getting high winds in Staten Island. I just shot this.

HA! First rider to make it to Franklin! I'm here at the Breedlove's. Skirted the storm on the way down with drizzles all the way and then hit a gully-washer ten miles from Franklin. Touched base with Ferris and I'd imagine they've tossed a few down by now. Ride Safe, JB2 |

Got the bike back together, started up, bodywork on etc. etc. and by 3:30 I was on my way to the dealer for the inspection. Realized on the way there I'd gotten the shifter set so I couldn't shift past neutral ... 1st gear only. Of course that fit the flow of traffic just fine Bike is now completely packed. Just need to jump in the gear and head out. Will be on the road first thing tomorrow morning unless the weather really starts acting up again. About 780 miles to Franklin, NC via I78 - I81. If I can get a good days ride in tomorrow I ought to be in Franklin sometime Monday afternoon. Been some hectic weeks, but I'm *so* looking forward to finally getting on the reoad again and to meet up with you guys. See you soon. Henrik |

Ferris, Jim, Jim and whoever else may have joined in by now, hope you are enjoying the beautiful East Coast weather, I certainly am! Got off the phone with Matt a few minutes ago, he just 'graduated' from round 2 of his radiation a few hours ago and is on his way back to Grand Rapids with his folks. He's doing and sounded great. We've got plans penciled in for next Friday in GR and will finalize everything with him Monday of next week. I will work out some accomodations for when we are in Grand Rapids and then I think it may be best to head South to the Bantz ranch, as I have not closed on my place yet and won't be doing so until the beginning or October (something with removing a snake or two that were residing in the basement). So, I'll see you boys then! Ride safe, ride hard. Baby Bart |

Time to post some teasers, then get my sorry and sore ass off to bed... (and I had to butcher the quality, long story but I am really tired... I will get them all up later with much better quality)
Lots more where that came from, and more importantly the stories behind them. Wow. I had no idea what I was getting into. It was amazing. (Message edited by reepicheep on September 06, 2006) |

Another teaser.... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6136610579536802222 I think that was a 1909, it was definitely an early Harley Davidson. Beautiful bike with exposed rocker arms, sounds as good today as it did when it was built. The sound made me want to jump on it and go ride. (Only 272 unread emails in my work inbox that need to be addressed... so I am still trying to make time to post more). |
