HEy Guys , Was out on a poker run today and the wifes xb12scg we were cruising on the highway around 70 miles an hour cool day and all, then all of a sudden the wifes bike stated to like buck abit and no power over 70 miles an hour, then the check engine light came on so she slowed down and started to pull over then the light went off. Started back on the highway and took it it easy seems okay ,however when ya go to start the bike now the check engine light is on but goes out as soon as the bike starts up,any ideals??? Thanks |

sounds like you overheated and the bike went into spark skip mode to protect itself. the check engine light always comes on and then turns off when you first turn the bike on |

Sorry it is not the check engine light its the bottom red oil light that comes on but goes off as soon as ya start it. On the other two xb`s we have here the bottom oil light does not come on when ya go to start it just the check engine light and of course those two bikes it goes off when started. just when ya go to start her bike you have both oil and check engine light on ,and they both go off when started.. Seems werid the other two xb`s oil light don`t come on when ya go to start it just hers? |

My oil light comes on when I turn the ignition on then goes off when the engine starts. I would say this is normal behavior. Keith |

Be very careful, if the oil light does NOT light up when the key ist urned on, YOUR OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT IS BAD. I have replaced mine 4 times on my 03. There were up to Rev B for the last one I bought. Two spit oil on my foot through a leak, the last one just quit working. Kevin '03 XB9S |

I had the leaking/bad problem with my sending unit as well. Sounds like I got lucky, in that they fixed it the first try (after 4 attempts trying to determine where the leak was originating). When mine went out, the oil light flickered, then went steady, then after i shut the bike off, it never came back on again. Ever. Until it was replaced, now it functions like normal. |
