OK, I've looked at the Heli-Bar and Spiegler solutions.

I like the Spiegler but $429 seems excessive.

I already have several pair of suitable bars sitting around.

Has anyone considered just drilling two holes in the existing top triple-clamp and mounting some appropriate bar holders? It looks doable, maybe without even removing the triple-clamp.

I'm looking at some on my KTM that sure look like they would work.

I am with you, I'm too cheap to spend $400 for a new set of tripples.

There was a board member who had an elegent solution, basically he extended the bars with new barstock and some stainless plate. I wish he would post some photo's.

Too bad I can't find the old post (from last week)

well i have all the parts to do it: S upper clamp, S bars & bar clamp, S cables (throttle, clutch, brake) been wanting to do it for a while just need a free weekend to do the swap. well see about the faring clearance. thought about drilling the upper to but got all the parts for about 200 bucks between e-bay and the dealer. buell parts are cheap. the only other thing about drilling is the clamps are on an angle. i thought the red renthal bars off my XR would look cool too.

Copied and pasted from previous thread, author was; Srlorg

I did a very cheap mod to raise my 9r bars. Get two 10" .875" stainless tubes. Two .312" thick 304 stainless plates. Bore two holes 4.5" apart in the plates. Press fit only! Youll need to cut a halfround clearance hole in the right plate for the brake cylinder. Cut bars leaving about 3.5" of original bar with anti rotation key. After assembling and rotating the short section into the correct position, Tig weld the bars into the plates. If done carefully, youll have about 3.2" rise and fairing clearance for about 20$.}

I read that in the other thread.

If Srlorg want to come to N GA, it sounds like a good plan.

Otherwise, this is beyond my capabilities.

I've been trying to find some appropriate risers to hold 7/8" bars. None of the dealers around here (N GA) seem to stock anything like that.

There are some on eBay but I would sure like to actually hold them in position before springing for them.

Anyone know of a dealer in N GA (or the Atlanta area) that might stock something like that?
