Warning...do not torque your engine oil swingarm drain plug to 30 ft lbs like the manual says!!! I did and it stripped right out. I should have used my gut feel on this one. tightened to where it felt "snug" but only read a bit over 20 ft lbs. Which I would now say is about right with the oring in there. ended up using one of those 1X oversize self tapping drain plugs from the autoparts store to fix it. It's good as new now and probably stronger but man that made me sick to my stomach when that happened. I haven't stripped a thread in probably 20 years of wrenching my bikes. Next time you pull the drain plug, take a look at how little contact area there is in the threads. |
