Just got back from a trip to Salt lake City, and stopped by Antelope Island where we ran into this Buffalo. He didnt seem to like the sound of the XB and the Jardine..... he huffed and puffed 5 or 6 times and then turned square toward me and started digging his foot like he was ready to charge! I slowly backed up about 20 feet and he eventually crossed the road right in front of me. Badwebers beware, large animals may not appreciate Buell the way we do! |

At least you had the presence of mind to have your camera handy! |

I just got back from Glacier Mt. I saw some dildo on an Harley get off his bike to approach a mother buffalo. Someone finally pointed out that it was not a good idea. I was hoping for some good video to submit to the darwin awards group. Nice photo btw |

Corporate Monkey: Some years ago I was with some friends on the Kankamangus Highway in New Hampshire. We saw a bunch of people by the side of the road so we stopped to see what was going on. Turned out it was a cow moose with her calf. My friend's girlfriend started approaching the calf with her camera when I pointed out that it wasn't such a great idea. When she asked "Why?" I pointed out that the 700 pound animal with the short temper was giving her the evil eye and saying in very clear body language that SHE didn't think that was a good idea... |

A friend of my grandfather had his car totalled by a charging buffalo in Yellowstone years ago. Turns out they don't like it when you honk at them. |

Some could argue that a XBr looks a little like Bison in profile. And since Bison cannot see very well, maybe that poor buffalo was wondering "Where the hell did this white buffalo come from?" |

As long as we're talking about Buffalo, let me contribute a picture or four.... On a bike trip in Yellowstone last month, these guys are pretty used to vehicle traffic, my loud pipes didn't warrant a second glance.
They also think they own the road. WIth the cars around for scale, you can see how big these guys are.
Quite a few on the east side of Yellowstone.
I had a Moose run across the highway in front of me on a mountain pass. Had to chase him over a fence and across a meadow to get any sort of shot of him.
After that I bought a neck strap for my camera so I would have quick and easy access to it, even while riding |

"...he huffed and puffed 5 or 6 times and then turned square toward me and started digging his foot like he was ready to charge! I slowly backed up..." Slowly backed up? I would have dropped my bike and ran screaming across the prairie looking for a tree to climb. |

Slowly backed up? I would have dropped my bike and ran screaming across the prairie looking for a tree to climb. ^^ LOL. ^^ My first thought was to turn and burn but with my position on the road I realized that I couldnt make the U-turn, and certainly neither could my wife who was holding the camera, so I cut the engine and backed up until he turned away. Chainsaw - We went through Yellowstone on our way to Salt lake. In this picture, all the black specs in the field behind the bikes are buffalo, likely the same spot you took your pictures. (nevermind the out of place filter on the Blast, it was a Temp. fix)
