Got a tank bra to keep scratches off the sides. Novus2 does a great job at keeping plastic looking new, but it will scratch, this is inevitable.   Dentfixer Posted on Monday, June 26, 2006 - 07:13 pm:        As an auto detailer I have used a fine rubbing compound on a buffing pad to clear up the plastic coated headlights on older cars. So on my translucent orange XB12S I simply use the Novus2 with a black foam mini-pad on my cordless drill. Perfect! Finish it off with the Novus1. Looks like new or better!   Doc_d Posted on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 - 09:20 pm:        I have the translucent orange on my XB, too. I splashed gasoline on it when the gas pump didn't click off (it was one of those pumps that can fill the tank in seconds-- either all on or off!), and the spill caused it to be hazy wherever the gas splashed. I tried to rub it out with Meguiar's PlastX, and it did remove some of the haze, but it's still visible. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?   Doc_d Posted on Saturday, July 15, 2006 - 12:14 pm:        I answered my own question! Used some Turtle Wax Scratch and Swirl Remover and a soft cloth. With lots of rubbing action, the body panel was restored to normal. The Turtle Wax stuff has just the right amount of abrasive where it doesn't make fine scratches. Can I buy the Novus products anywhere besides at my HD dealer or online? I haven't seen it at the local autoparts stores. What cloth should I use to apply the stuff? Cotton towel, tack cloth, diaper? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks   Blake Posted on Friday, August 18, 2006 - 01:23 pm:        Most aftermarket parts mailorder houses sell Novus. So do other motorcycle dealerships. I like old cotton T-shirt, but any nice soft cotton cloth will do.
