My rotor on my 06 XB12X is warped after 12500 miles. Should this be replaced under the warranty? The front pads were changed before they reached the wear marks. Of course my dealer says it is not. Mike Long Island, NY 06 XB12X Back of course |

Maybe your rotor is only dirty... try to "gentle sand" it, it worked well for me! |

At 5500 miles, the service dept told me that "it was normal on these kind of bikes" I had to change my braking style because of this. Front end still hops when I grab a handful of brake. Ken |

From an earlier brake thread: The stock pads also leave a residue on the disc that will clean off with wire wool and brake cleaner and will reduce juddering. (Message edited by ftd on August 17, 2006) |

Lindell Gold Brake pads. no more worries. Al at A.S.B. has them or you can order them through any Harley parts dept. what causes it is that the Sintered pads leave a residue and causes hot spots on the rotor. i have 15.5k on mine and it vibrates like hell. going to install the Lindell pads tomorrow. |

Im running the Lyndall Gold pads now. They give off a nice ZZZZZZZ when I grab break, however I was told that they do a number on your rotor by a firend who works at a HD dealer |

I like that ZZZZZZZZZZZZ sound. It's kind of a audible sign as how much brake your using. I don't "think" the rotors are very expensive. I think it's a fairly small price to pay for better feeling brakes. Maybe Daves will chime in with a price check on a XB front brake rotor? (Message edited by debueller on August 17, 2006) |

I think the rotor is about $150. But regardless, look at it this way. If you don't put the Lyndal pads on then you have to replace the rotor to get rid of the pulsing. So it doesn't really matter if the Lyndals are tough on the rotors or not. |

How warped is warped is the question I'd be asking. And is it just warped, not deposits from your pads. There are places around that will grind them but they hate the ZTL discs as they don't fit on any of their jigs. Usually the reason for the warping is leaving te bike stationary with the disc red hot. Therefore the remainder of the disc cools off but the portion inside the caliper stays hot. This happens with stunter doing stoppies alot. |

My disc was checked with a DTI gauge and WAS warped. It was £150 for a new on but it comes with all the mounting bolts, washers etc. Norrie. |

Anyone else having problems with the Lyndal pads leaving marks on your rims? I noticed some black marks etched into the rims. They dont come out with washing or waxing |

At 5500 miles, the service dept told me that "it was normal on these kind of bikes" I'd like to hear the explaination for that. It's a bigger rotor, has at LEAST as much cooling at any other type. |

I've had the Lyndals for quite a while now and prefer them over the stockers... |

I went through three rotors and multiple sets of pads trying to keep the braking smooth until June when I found this site and installed the LRB pads. The bumping was reversed as promised. If they destroy the rotor, I'm no worse off, and I've got a pile of bumpy rotors in the basement. Buy the LRBs. |

I just replaced three disc kits under warranty on '06 Ulysses, one of which was mine at 7000 miles. I don't beat on this bike at all so it's not owner abuse. Who has tried Ferodo pads on their XB? |
